Hey, quick question: I've been toying with the idea of jumping back in ME1 for some more achievement prostitution, but this time I around I want to make sure Shepard has no LI so he will remain pure for Tali.
How do I go about making sure that neither the Liara or Ash romance kicks in as a default or something? I know we talked about this before, but for the life of me I can't remember what was said about it.

Start Ashley's romance, then kill her on Virmire.

You're very much welcome, those songs have been in my mind while reading reckoning, so it's good to see I'm not the only one finding the correlation between the fic, and the songs.

I have more in my arsenal, just give the word if you require more moosak. 

Anything you have about innocence being taken, betrayal, insanity, sorrowful pain, longing, and having your face rubbed in the dirt for amusement would be great.

If not, I'm content with what I have.

1. Be an ass to Ash at the start and never talk to her/ blow her to bits
2. With Liara same but without the blowing to bits

1. Let Tali go(Paragon)

2. Leave Tali(Renegade)

3. Stand and fight / Go out big and take a whole load of the mother @#$%@#s with you (Friggen awsome)

dude your talking about ******* shepard theres no such thing as too many enemies or too many guns, heck the collectors had to use a spaceship to put him down and all they did was ****** him off.

Don't talk to them. Ever. Normal cutscenes are fine, but don't go and talk to them on your own.

Even if you do this, Ashley will still run to you during the ME2 intro, but that's just because she's the default.

Personally, I nuked Ash, ignored Liara. When you recruit Ash, be an ass to her, if not that, be an ass when she talk about her sister. 

Just be an ass to Ash in general if you don't nuke her. And you can talk to Liara, just don't go into obviously touchy diologue. It's safe to just ignore her though.

Liara is easy, just don't take the obvious relationship starting choice.  For Ashley, you can take the safe route and have her make a heroic sacrifice on Virmire, or you have to be a jerk to her to the point where she won't jump on you on the trip to Ilos.  The key points seem to be on the Normandy after Eden Prime, and the sister talk.  If you're a jerk to her on Eden Prime, and then tell Anderson you don't want her on the ship, you can get in a fight with her on the welcome conversation, and she starts out not liking you.  Just hammer the point home and renegade the sister talk as well.

true but wrex and garrus are better, and at least Kaidan is a pretty good guy with none of the racial subtext ash has got going on.

There's not nearly as many checks as you're making there out to be.  The way I see it, there will be a basic dialogue that happens whether you've never played ME1/2, or whether you did and didn't romance them.  Bioware will have to finagle these lines so that they make sense for both occasions, but its not impossible.  The other option would be for a previously romanced character, where the conversations are different, and continue the romance.  Maybe the basic dialogue branch could even merge with the romance one and they could have the same ending.

Either way, this is hardly mountains and mountains of dialogue to wade through.  Its 2 or 3 extra conversations for the LIs.

You guys don't seem to realize how little conversations we had IN ME2...where those squaddies were actually the focus.

Don't forget, we were also hoping for some change in personality based on Paragon/Renegade decisions, and look what we got.
