I suspect a lot of it is more against the fans than the character. A lot of the Talihaters say the same thing. The character might not be their favorite, but they don't hate her. It's just something about the fanbase that really gets people going.

One common thread I've seen which might explain Talifan/Mirifan animosity is that Mirifans are usually apologists for the whole "doing it on Tali's workstation" love scene. Like that could ever possibly be justified as anything other than a total b*tch move.

We must move in different circles.  I've heard plenty of Miranda hate but no Mirandamancer hate.

They're in a tough situation.  Look around here:  most people wouldn't change a thing about Tali.  I feel sorry for Miranda fans because the few times I've dropped in on their thread it seems like there are some things they'd change if they could.

Tali > Jack > Liara =/= Ashley > Miranda
To me, at least.

I... think I agree with this.  Though obviously Liara already edged out Ashley once for me.

When I chat with Ash fans, I feel like I should have romanced her instead. When I talk to the positive Liara fans, I felt like Liara is a better choice. I have a bizarre hate-tolerate relationship with Miranda.

I keep Miranda around for one thing.

If I ever run out of fuel for the ship, I can **** her out to the local batarians for a few extra credits.

That's the ONLY reason I keep her.

I said LIKE the only person

Makes me cry, too. Although right now I can't even keep up. Damn thread.

I do expect the carryover on decisions to be near maddeningly irrelevant personally.  They painted themselves into a corner there.  They can't make different games based on whether you kept the base or saved the council.  They can however, appeal to the people who have followed ME since the beginning with the characters.  I don't think they'll miss that chance personally, but that's just optimism really.  For all I know, you could be right, and I could be done with Bioware games forever

*top*

You're right about character development > decision-making, they can easily turn everything into emails and just focus on squaddies and plot just like ME1 was.

You know the only reason I'm acting like this is cuz DA2 is a completely new story, so I just lost all my squaddies from DA:O :crying:

I just thought it was downright silly. My inital impression when I romanced Miranda was just me running my mind on why the engine room?

People work here.

I did not initially believe it was to spite Tali, and much to my surprise; Tali fans say just that.

As usual, it probably can't be broken down to that magical "one thing." I think it is complex. (And I have stated so a few times.)  ^_^

Congratulations.

Lol, thanks.

She cares about ONE thing in the big wide universe. And Jacob doesn't like rapists. Doesn't make her a good, decent, or even remotely worthwhile person.

What does Jack care about?

She didn't have any problems with what they did to Veetor, did she?

Have you ever given Veetor to Cerberus? I've never managed it.

Of course Miranda picked that fight. She was picking fights with Jack since Purgatory, since she came on the ship. If you side with Jack, which I always do, it comes off that Miranda instigated the interaction.

Alright. How do you think Miranda instigated the fight?

One of the things that makes the engine room choice suspect is that Kasumi implies sort of the same thing that "tali fans" have been saying.

(Btw, how can I change my avatar to something personalized? I've noticed that there are some people with their own personal avatars instead of the standard ones that the boards allow...)

Download DA:O character creator

Start it

2. On the bottom left corner you'll see a log in button, use the
same email and password you use for the social network

3. Create a character and upload it

4. Wait for it to upload, then DELETE IT

5. Go to My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Pre-release characters,
there you will find a png file

6. Replace it with the pic you want to use, it must have the same
name and size (146x146)

7. Set it to read-only

8. Open DA:O CC, go to modify character, select the same character
again and upload it one more time

9. Wait

There is more than one thread on the board. You could check them out. ;)

Periodically, a troll will make a "why the engine room" thread just to trollbait Mirifans. After a while, the mods lock it or outright delete it. Before they do, I've seen a lot of anger and resentment towards Miranda for doing it where she did it. And I've watched the Mirifans bend over trying to somehow justify it.

That is actually my primary source of disrespect for Miranda. She was trying to defend Cerberus when Jack confronted her about the Teltin facility. Cerberus may not have been the ones active during the experiments, but they are still irresonsible.
And Miranda just says to lay off of Cerberus.Image IPB

I've yet to see a good explanation otherwise.  That was just a real poor move on the part of the writers no matter how you slice it.

Jack cares about herself. At least she's honest about it. Miranda is a barefaced liar. I'll take Jack's brutal honesty over Miranda's double talk and Illusive Man Worship.

I gave Veetor to them on a pure Renegade runthrough, the only time I ever did it. Turns out, they pumped him full of drugs to get him into a lucid state, restrained him, and failed to give him any food or water, leaving him a clinically insane wreck.

There are several options. Best guess? She called up Jack to have a chat about what happened on Pragia, spewed some non-sense about how it wasn't REALLY Cerberus's fault, and asked her if she was going to continue being a problem with the Cerberus personel on the ship.

The big apologist reason I've read from Mirifans is that Miranda is an insecure control freak and wanted Shep somewhere on her terms. (And this is what they use to defend that action...)

Hey, I just said I lurked other threads!  But yeah... I don't have a lot of time for keeping up on everyone else.

I'd be interested to see a civil discussion on that.  But I don't think I ever will.

Yea. No kidding. I think either Miranda really did choose the engine room to stake her territory, or Kasumi is just referencing the stuff said on the forums. Similar to Blasto.

That is EXACTLY the point. I think the writers actually left hints, trying to tell you that Jacob and Miranda where just the "porn star" options. Jacob even tells femshep, if she wants something deep and really meaningful, go talk to Garrus. The thing with the engine room and Kasumi's comment is like them saying "JACKASS! How could you turn down Tali! BOSH'TET!"

I really hated playing Renegade. When the time finally came to go the Migrant Fleet, I got to see Veetor, post-interrogation. And Renegade Shepard spews utter bull**** that Cerberus is not at fault.

Surrogate Cerberus stooge.

That comment about bleeding hearts is actually pretty funny, since Jacob and Garrus are more alike in the "I want to do something, even if I have to go outside the law to do it" department.

Alright, I'll give you that one.

I gave Veetor to them on a pure Renegade runthrough, the only time I ever did it. Turns out, they pumped him full of drugs to get him into a lucid state, restrained him, and failed to give him any food or water, leaving him a clinically insane wreck.

So what gives you the impression that Miranda knew they would do this, or upon learning, she thought it was fine?

There are several options. Best guess? She called up Jack to have a chat about what happened on Pragia, spewed some non-sense about how it wasn't REALLY Cerberus's fault, and asked her if she was going to continue being a problem with the Cerberus personel on the ship.

So do you think what Miranda said justified Jack to fling a chair at her?
