Jack doesn't get that much hate on the forum. It's mostly Tali or Miranda. And those who do talk crap about Jack, they are usually Miranda fans.
Garrus has gotten some amount of hate for being "too popular" and "cool." He may be going to the way of Tali eventually. I've already seen some backlash about Garrus' popularity. It's nothing huge, but it's there and seems to be increasing.

I'm still bitter that Grunt died leading the second team, and he was LOYAL, while Zaeed got out okay. Miranda wasn't loyal either, how come she bit it and he didn't?
F*** Zaeed.
Zaeed, Grunt, and Garrus have the highest "hold the line" quotient, even if not loyal. Loyal, Grunt can hold the line on his own. He is that much of a goddamn wrecking ball.Titanium Man wrote...

Guess Grunt was a softie after all...
And pretty much anyone who isn't loyal and isn't in your party is going to kick the bucket.
Yeah, from my very first playthrough, I've always picked Garrus as second team leader. It just makes so much goddamned sense.uhdnrt wrote...

Just remember from here on out: Alt fire team leaders MUST be Garrus, Miranda, or Jacob to survive (and require loyalty).
As much as I like Garrus, das bro is always my alt team leader in the collector ship. There is no other logical conclusion. The first time I was reading through their descriptions, I had a debate with a roommate about who to take. We stopped at Garrus. Looked at each other, and I could not hammer the 'accept' option fast enough.

Depending on how many squadies are loyal/disloyal at the 'hold the line' section would determine it. Only one not loyal, Zaeed might die. However, he has one of the highest survivability ratings, and having either Grunt or Garrus there pushes it higher. If Miranda wasn't loyal, everyone else was, and Mordin and Tali weren't at the hold the line, Miranda will always die before Zaeed.Titanium Man wrote...
But Zaeed wasn't loyal, how come HE made it? Does he get bonuses for surviving a gun to the face?
I think he does get survivability bonuses. I'm pretty sure Miranda and Grunt have high survivability bonuses for holding the line as well, where as Tali and Mordin have the lowest chances of surviving. If you leave either of them, you have to make sure they're loyal or they're going to be toasted.Titanium Man wrote...

Yes, you can re-use the leaders. As long as they are loyal. That's why I choose Garrus both times - the bro will provide.Titanium Man wrote...
Garrus came with me because I wanted to ensure he lived. Miranda went into **** mode after I sided with Jack. Unless you can use Jacob for both teams.

Dude.. have you ever listened to Zaeed's stories? Sure, he survives all kinds of stuff, but his team always ends up dead.Someone With Mass wrote...
I've always wondered why Team Bland (Jacob and Miranda) can be fire team leaders, when other people who shows great leader potential, like Zaeed, can't be.
What makes Jacob so goddamn special?

Yea. People don't catch this and assume old mercenary guy = good leader.Kikaimegami wrote...

Probably because he's a calm sort and doesn't take stupid risks.Someone With Mass wrote...

He was in the alliance or something. It isn't very well explained. Garrus is really the only one that makes sense as a leader tbh.Someone With Mass wrote...

The only specialist job I'm comfortable with giving Zaeed is escorting the crew back. He seems to be fine with that as long as he's loyal. Otherwise, he's just there to spit out damage and follow someone better suited to the task of leadership.Collider wrote...
