Hm I didn't really have that much trouble understanding the hold the line bit. It just seemed to me to place the damage sponges or heavy hitters there.

I didn't have anyone die on the hold the line part, but I've read that a lot of other people have, particularly Mordin. They should have either allowed us to assign a vanguard guy or better explain that Shepard should probably leave defensively orientated people to hold the line.

Assigning a vanguard would have been a really good idea.

GRUNT! HOLD THE LINE!

EDIT: HOLDING THE LINE AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE!

I did this, too.  Plus I had the Cain (AKA, the Middle Finger Gun) to deal with the big bad.

I was rewarded by not only saving Tali from falling, but having her return the favor and drag me onto the Normandy.  Jurassic PARK.

The first time I used the Cain agains the Human-Reaper Larva, it dodged it, and I saw the rocket fly off in to the background, and I just thought: "FFFFFFFUUUUU--"

Also, good thing that the Collectors suddenly suffers from the Stormtrooper Syndrome.

Why people have hard time to see that Jacob or Miranda would be proper team leaders? They are the last ones on the whole team to have experience/training/knowledge for to lead fire teams.

Because we don't get an indication before the suicide mission. In contrast, everyone knows that Garrus is a badass team leader - without even being told by the text description when choosing team leaders in the suicide mission.

Oh hell, I know, right? I hate having them in my squad. Though, Miranda is at least semi-useful with her skills. I'm an Overload hussy.

Kasumi's loyalty power is actually better than Overload, me thinks.

Stuns the enemy, overheating their weapons, and drags them out of cover. Not to mention the blast radius...

But her best power is with no doubt the Shadow Strike. She's going to town with that one.

They should have made Tali's energy drain ability stronger. It's useful for Shepard definitely, but for squad mates not as much.

The indications are there, but more subtle. Speak with Jacob, you learn that he's been running with Alliance, doing some corsair work. His whole appearance just speaks that this guy has had some proper training with the Alliance.

Well, Miranda is the genetic superwoman. So one can easily establish the fact that she has something more between her ears than just gray matter.

Of course, Garrus is the super badass. But aside from these three, there are none to even think about being even a decent leader.

It seems pretty nice for her when it's fully upgraded.

I think it's alright as it is now. She doesn't need the Energy Drain to comletely destroy the enemies' shields. I think it's okay if it takes them down enough so she can move up and finish them off with her shotgun.

Doesn't really mean he's a good leader though. The Corsairs also sound like people who go solo. Also, Jacob's proudest moment was saving the citadel....by himself.

Tali & Legion are also smart as hell, but they aren't cut out for leadership roles.

True, but they could have done a better job with Jacob and Miranda.

yep, just thought given Tali's engineering background, it would be a little stronger against shields than normal Overload though. Not a big deal, she's still an awesome squad mate.

And I really think Zaeed is well-represented. If you make him team leader of anything, it goes so wrong, as it should.

I agree, it makes sense that it does go wrong - but there really is no role you can specifically assign to Zaeed. He helps a lot in the "Hold the Line" section, but the Hold the Line section sucked and wasn't properly explained to the player.

Garrus, Tali, Legion, Jack, and Kasumi all have roles that make sense, and they are more fair to the player because it's explained and shown better. Garrus manages to ****** off every mercenary group on Omega because he's such a badass team leader. Tali's an engineering genius, Legion's the smartest Geth evar, Jack's the most powerful human biotic, and Kasumi's an infiltration master. Samara was also well represented, although there are people who chose her as team leader because she was hella old or something. Morinth is also well represented because no one is really going to choose her for anything besides biotic specialist.

Everyone else:
Jacob: No indication whatsoever he would be a good team leader (before suicide mission).
Miranda: See Jacob.
Mordin: Has literally no role in the suicide mission. I guess you could send him to escort the crew, but for most people maybe they'd go with someone less squishy instead to ensure that the crew gets out alive.
Thane: Literally no role besides the "Hold the line" which was never well explained to the player.
Zaeed: See Thane
Grunt: See Thane

I always sent Legion through the vents. Made sense. A synthetic would be more duable to the extreme heat of the vents, not to mention he can hack through anything.

Garrus is the most bad ass leader ever. Sorry Miranda. Garrus is my real XO.

Tali stays with me. I always need a techy.

While Jacob saved the Citadel, he got help from Miranda. But yeah, doesn't indicate that if he's a good leader, but tells us that he most certainly has had some leadership training, at least, while every one else purely lacks that.

Indeed. Tali can make circuit boards to make precision jumps. But Miranda can see the battlefield and come up with a viable strategy against the enemy.

True, but they could have done a better job with Jacob and Miranda.

Well said. QFT. They should use more of those multi-tasking missions, with a chance of npc's dying. It would really give it its own element of experience.

Area Energy Drain is the better option of the two on higher difficulties in my opinion.

the only time the game gives you an indication of this is in the suicide mission itself with the text description, though.

 One last plug for this!

A cold day on Noveria, final chapter

***

The painkillers were flooding his body now, as the automated VI pumped them in with a strict schedule.
“Y'know what, Tali,” he spoke up, his voice slurred now. “The geth-quarian war did have a one good thing, beca-,” he didn't even manage to finish as Tali slapped him hard on his cheek.
“-cause it allowed us to meet,” he finished, gesturing between them as he passed out from the drugs and the slap.
Her anger dissipated instantly and she flexed her hands.
“Do you always have to be right?” she asked from the unconscious man. Smiling, she looked at him and slowly put her two fingers over the mouth piece of her mask. Making a faint smooch at her fingers, she then proceeded to carefully plant her fingers on top of his lips. Lingering for there a moment, before she left the med bay, spinning the medal in her hands, her step light and bouncy from the joy she felt.

Really? Hm... Dunno where I got that image that it was almost pointed out at Shepard. Oh well, might be my tired mind mixing things up

If its only mentioned in there, I stand corrected then.

Don't even get me started on the Squad powers. Some of them make little to no sense. Why Legion is an engineer instead of an Infiltrator boggles my mind. Not to mention neither of the Adepts get a truly good set of powers that mesh with their style (Samara should have had warp and Thane should have had pull, IMO; not to mention how god awful Shredder Ammo is).

And why only one Sentinel? They are willing to triple up on engineers but not give us more than one sentinel? Even though Jacob actually is a sentinel in his game. Honestly, it is fracking ridiculous. I would have been okay with it if he at least had Cryo Ammo instead of Incendiary ammo. But noooooooooooo.

C'mon Bioware. A geth infiltrator that isn't an infiltrator. EPIC FAIL.

Yeah, that totally irks the hell out of me. He should, at the very least, have tactical cloak. Hell he gets sniper rifles, but no cloak. What the hell?
