Just trying to figure how much you knew.

I don't know. Haven't spoke since yesterday, and he hasn't responded to me.

Frankly? I don't know if he's even sleeping with a roof over his head right now.

Definitely. I actually had an idea of her sneaking in the reading of some of Kasumi's novels, the romancy or swords n dragon types.

I meant, do you think she likes to read in general? Shes a very intelligent person. I wonder if she likes reading fiction at all.

Would you play it over and over? I know I would. Romance is a big part of the game, so Idk what I'd do if there was none to begin with. I don't particularly LOVE the combat system, but the story is good.

*snip pic*

I played the first game thirty times. So yes, I would.

I resolved after about my tenth playthrough, before ME2 was announced that I loved Tali more than anyone in the game. I'd continue playing through the entire trilogy, and if she became romanceable, I'd pick her. Otherwise, it would always be love from afar, and my Shepard would die a broken, lonely man.

I'm an extreme metagamer in this way. I did create multiple Shepards for ME with different romances, but my canon Shepard (named and designed after me) was single in the first game because the woman he cared for was going to leave as soon as his mission with Saren was over with, so he didn't act upon those emotions. He thought that the best he would be to her was a friend. Though that didn't stop him from treating her like a good friend and even giving her the Geth data that would help her people and make her a hero among her people. The Alliance can bite me.

Of course she still stayed on the ship over a month after the battle of the citadel. When my Shepard died, it was with regret.

I found ME2 was heavily geared towards a Shep/Tali romance tale. It almost seemed like fate that they ran into each other on Freedom's Progress. The chances of Veetor going to FP for his Pilgrimage and Tali being sent to save him are astronomical at best. Lines like:

"What ever happens, it's good to have you back."

or

"I want to but I can't. I have a mission of my own, which I can't abandoned... Even for you."

Just added to the story. Then it gets to Haestrom, where you listen to Tali's recordings and the one that stood out:

"I wish my friends were there. I wish Shepard were here."

Eventually getting to the Trial. I don't know who wouldn't be able to do the epic speech at this point in time, or rally the crowd. And getting the sweet line from Tali when you tell her that she deserved better.

"I got better, Shepard... I got you."

Of course some may point out that Tali will say these things to you even if you're a femshep. But my point is that this is an RPG. Role-play. That's what this was to me. A role where the Shep/Tali romance was stretched across the two games.

I think she's definitely more than just a reading of history books. The indication you get from her ME1 dialogue was that growing up the Admiral's daughter was hard. She probably didn't have as many friends, I can imagine her reading a great deal in her down time on the Flotilla.

I go with my earlier random characterization that Tali is a fictional action junkie and reads accordingly.

yeah, she probably has the kindle of the future on her omnitool. i mean, there can't be very many things for a quarian on the fleet to do on their off time. reading seems a logical inclusion on the list.

The Book
Tali wiped her hands off on an oily rag after hours of repairing the Normandy’s hull with Ken, Gabby, and a few others. Her forearms were sore from the intense manual labor that she went through to help the Normandy out. She looked at her shaky arms and entered the elevator. The slight sense of vertigo sets in as the well elevator rises. Damn I am tired. Tali opens her omni-tool to check for messages, the holographic tool paints the dim elevator walls with its rather appealing hue. 1 new message. Her eyes flash with excitement as she opens the green tab.
Tali,
Stop by my room on the way up to Shepard’s cabin.
-Kasumi

“What could she possibly want,” Tali asked herself through a yawn. Her three fingered fist hit the big green 3. She walked out of the elevator and approached Kasumi’s door and knocked. The door hissed open and Tali peeked in. “Hello?”
“Tali, come in here for a moment,” Kasumi told her through a whisper. Tali placed her hands over her lap and walked in. “I know you are tired, but here, take this book as a gift from me to you.”
“Oh, well I have nothing to give you in return, wait.” Tali grabbed a 7mm wrench from her pocket. “Here, take this,” she quickly and nervously said handing her the tool. Kasumi chuckled and pushed it away.
“Tali, just take this,” she said laughing. Tali put the wrench back in her pocket and grabbed the book. Her twinkling eyes scanned the relic as she flipped it over in her hands scrutinizing it.
“Well thank you Kasumi, I…I don’t know what to say.” Tali barely got her sentence out through her stammering. “Well, I need to um, you know, get to bed,” she said through a yawn backing out of Kasumi’s private quarters clasping onto the book tightly with her three fingers.

Tali lounged on the couch in Shepard’s cabin with the lights dim. She leaned against the couch arm and had her legs tucked under her chin flipping through the yellowed pages of the book. No being able to understand anything in the book except for several colorful illustrations, Tali’s eyes flick up to the fish tank watching the fiery colored fish dart in and out of the kelp that peacefully swayed back and forth. Her head peeked over Shepard’s model case at the sound of a door hissing open. Shepard walked out of his bathroom toweling off his short hair.
“Oh Tali, didn’t see you there!”
Tali blushed and sat back down onto the couch staring at the old book.
“What are you doing there,” Shepard asked rounding the model case descending down the stairs. Tali looked up at him and shut the book.
“Oh nothing.” Shepard sat down next to her and eyed the book.
“I that one of Kasumi’s books?”
“Yeah, she gave it to me as a gift.” Shepard slipped his hand under the book and took it from Tali. A grin erupted on his lips. “I can’t read it though, it is in English.” Embarrassed, she looked down at the floor. “Can you um…read it to me?” She felt his arms snake around her waist pulling her closer to him. Tali leapt in his lap, hugged his muscular frame and leaned her head against his chest. An arm came around her back as he held the book in front of her face clearing his throat. He diamond like eyes sparked as they scanned the pictures on the pages along with the big text that Shepard found so amusing. “Go on, read it to me,” she anxiously whispered tapping his chest with an open hand.
“Okay, here we go.” He cleared his throat once more. “Rapunzel. Once upon a time…”
Tali listened to his voice rumble though his chest as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep dreaming about medieval stone towers and knights from a long lost age…

I always assumed that she didn't have access to too many vid games, but enjoyed the rare ones she was able to acquire. Heck, I wouldn't actually be surprised if quarian's were avid RPGers. They're naturally social and who would be more inclined than them to want to pretend to be someone else?

Being stuck on ships all the time? Network games would be a great way to connect with other people on other ships, to just relax, and as a passtime. I can see vidgames being a popular thing on the flotilla, and being so tech savvy, find the idea of Tali modding and hacking into her games hilarious.

It is awesome, though. Very awesome. Like Kasumi's choice of story and never even thought about the english/khellish thing. Hrm, have they ever explained in the codex how the translators work?

Shepard: Dammit Tali! How did you get so good at this game?

Tali: What do you think we did for fun growing up on the Flotilla?

Garrus: Well... If I had nerve stimulators built into MY suit... I know what I'D be doing for fun... HA! Gotcha again Shepard!

Shepard: DAMMIT VAKARIAN! Stop spawn killing me! Also, you're disgusting.

Garrus: I'm just saying. Have you ever tried wearing armor this thick for weeks on end? Makes it hard to... ah... pop the heatsink.

Tali: Don't even get me started. At least your gear comes off without risk of death.

Shepard: You two scare me sometimes.

Garrus: Lighten up Shepard... now just... hold still... BOOM HEADSHOT!!!

Shepard: This is just plain unfair... you have to be cheating somehow!

Garrus: Shepard, I'm the motha****in' Archangel. I'm just that damn good.

Tali: Then explain why I have a higher score than you.

Garrus: Because you are sexually repressed and dont' get out enough.

Shepard: Low blow, man. Literally.

Game: ROUND OVER. QUARIANCUTIE61 WINS!

*Tali looks at Garrus, hands on her hips, a victorious smile evident in her body language*

Garrus: You're still repressed.

Tali: *looks at Shepard* Until later tonight.

Shepard: :o

Garrus: How come I never get any...

Shepard: You just can't compete with the Sheepdawg, Garrus. B)

Garrus: Shepard... please... don't ever call yourself the "Sheepdawg" again...

Tali: I think it's kind of cute. <3

Yea, but wasn't it said that the Flotilla only had limited extranet connection? Wouldn't it be hard for them to get games? Though I guess with all those techs they could make their own.

Yeah. It's in the wiki somewhere. Simultaneous translation. Shepard hears everything in english. Well, the words in the translator's dictionary at least.
