Hmmm, sounds more like something you'd see in a doodle... not a full blown painting...

Pull something from the game then.  Back on Haestrom.  Her working on the databases in the ruins, before the attack.  Late at night, she is recording the "I wish Shepard was here..." entry.  Maybe have her omnitool bringing up a small picture of her and Shepard, her in her old suit (taken on the SSV Normandy).

Well, decide or moving on, since if you romanced Liara in game one, then left her for Tali, on Liara's side of things, it's like you're abandoning her. On Shepard's side of thing, you simple love someone else now. Either way, it's sad.

You may be able to try in ME3 breaking it up with Liara yet remaining friends with her.
