1) Take her hostage. (Don't worry, you're not going to hurt her.)

2) Knock her over and charge the sniper.

#1, because taking the sniper might end in bloodshed and Paragons do not want that.

Also, perfect opportunity to grab some quarian boob.

Well then I'll take a number 1 with a side of boob please.^_^

Edit: top of page side of boob.

It may just be me, but I do very much enjoy stories where a troubled character bonds with another and are shown compassion and because of that the turn to become more positive.

Trouble is, with Jack you cannot really help her (and see actual results) without romancing her.

There are some people I've spoken to who criticized this - that the distinction between helping and not helping Jack was decided by what gender Shepard was. To some degree, this is also true with the other romances in ME2 (aside from Garrus I suppose?) but their problems were not to the magnitude of Jack.

With Jack, the player feels compelled to help her (if they care to wade through the acerbity) independent of the desire to romance her. Because she is a sad case - a bit of a "jerk ass woobie," if you will. I of course don't expect that we would be able to help Jack to the same magnitude as you may be able to in her romance. And some may argue that Jack does not even want friends (I've heard one person say "Why does everyone to be Shepard's friend?).

This is a rather minor complaint though, in the grand scheme of things. I think though many players, including those who primarily or only play F!Shepard, would have appreciated some sort of way to be friends with Jack (or not be told to literally go away) or help her in a way that has more tangible results. It would have brought a better sense that the platonic interactions with Jack were not wasted.

Part of the fun of talking to these characters is seeing how their relationship with Shepard develops. With Jack, it kind of feels like after the loyalty mission, it reverts back into unfriendly I don't want to talk to you go away and therefore square one.

In most societies, that is a hefty fine and moderate sentance.

Indeed.

Too bad she needed the job... would have been nice to see her break a finger or two.

1) I'm walking out, she's coming with me.

As her gaze is focused on your right shoulder, you gently reach around with her left arm and draw her in close.
Using her surprise to your advantage, you draw your pistol with your right hand and place it against her cheek.

"I've no conscious intention of harming you miss, but seeing as I have a bit of amnesia at the moment I wouldn't suggest pushing my buttons."
You pull her to her feet, and drag her into a maintenance corridor.

As the door seals behind you an electronic stuttering sound is audible through the vents.
Gunfire erupts in the hallway and you can hear the screaming Quarians make their last stand against an unknown enemy.

But if you had to take a guess, you'd say that Geth have reached the station.

1) Let her go, there's no point in holding her hostage now.

2) Grab some boob first, then let her go. :3

You along with said people take this idea under the notion that ME2 will be the end for Jack, which is yet to be proven true. Jack's treatment towards Shepard clearly shift according to how you have treated her. If shown kindness and patience; Jack actually does lighten up, not telling Shepard to ****** off being one way to tell. If you treat her poorly, siding with Miranda or having a fling with her, you have proven her views on people to be true, thus she closes herself off again, to Shepard.

I see Jack actually opening up as the game progresses, and while we may not see a clear acceptance towards Shepard unless romance, I still feel that she actually begins towards this. If Jack returns in ME3 as a full-character as we all hope for most of the other characters, I believe she will become more accepting over the course of her developement.

As tempting as #2 is I'll have to go with #1 for now. Hopefully saving her life along with yours is enough. Time to think about getting yourself and your new friend out of here I think.
