Right...

Well... for anyone who cares... Reckoning's new chapter is up... hit the sig if you're interested. I'd warn you not to click it if you're not into morally implicit material, but I've beat that horse to death, cloned it, and beat it to death again.

Oh.

I think I have to read some of the other chapters, because it's been so long since the last time, that I've almost forgot what happened.

But more reading is always appreciated.Image IPB

Tali's recruitment mission lacked a great environment. The music was fantastic though - it had a heroism to it, as well as fitting to Tali the character herself.

Uh, define great environment.  It was one of the few missions that had an environment that mattered.

Don't we all?  I mean, contribution is pretty much the only currency around here.

I'd go a step further and put it as "people only matter as much as the last thing they contributed."

It's just how the internet is.  It's hard to get the true measure of a person.

For all we know, absolutely everything we may know about a person online could be a total lie.

I may actually be really nice in person.

Meh, am back. There's one big bad thing about playing modded STALKER: sometimes you'll get bugtraps when you least expect them.

You're joking right?  Yes, yes he does.  It's about half comraderie, and about half trolling.

No I'm not joking. Only recently I have started to browse the thread more often.

Rune has suggested that if kraidy has a bottle in his hand while posting, it's troll night, and that seems a reasonable explanation.

Anyway, he trolled the thread so hard a couple weeks ago that Niceral (another troll) got trolled into defending Tali.  It was bizarre and hilarious.

There are only a few people here I actively hate.

Kraidy is definately one of them.

I know this is a consequence of the setting itself, but her recruitment mission was colorless and dead. Samara's had this strange, rich purple or blue to it. There was also nothing particularly interesting in the environment in Tali's recruitment mission. Just ruins and a bit of stuff left around by the Quarian science team. Granted, Samara's recruitment mission wasn't breathtaking in that department.

And there were many more people to talk to in Samara's too. There are also more choices in involved. The only substantial choice in Tali's loyalty mission would be whether to tell Kal to stand down.

That's kind of what I'm saying.  The medium we're using to communicate changes us.  And then there's the issue of proof of any claims.

So contributions, be they art, writing, discussion, jokes, screenshots, etc. are really the only good currency.

It's like playing Doom classic, when the monsters accidentally hit one another and it turns out into a comical battle royale.

Was that the time when they had a...discussion over why Tali shoots the ceiling if you pick Legion's side in the fight?

Good times, indeed.Image IPB

Unless you partake in some outside interactions, being something outside of this forum. I have played several games of Gears of War, Halo, and Modern Warfare on XBL with several forum regulars, even kraidy.

That does help you get a better grasp of this individual as a person, unless of course they persist in keeping up the persona we percieve to be them as normal.

I.e. Kraidy is actually really nice.

As far as loyalty missions go, Tali's would be the best in my opinion.

Not just because I like the character. Her's has character development, a more unique environment than some (contrast that with Garrus' or Miranda's loyalty missions), emotion, politics (pertaining the fact of two races), information revealed about the character (granted, you would have to not hug Tali to know about it) and a nice set of choices.

After that I'd have to say Mordin. No character development that I know of (hmm...), but we did get to learn more about him. At the end of the loyalty mission we make an important choice.

Legion's loyalty mission had a fantastic environment. No character development and not much in the way of revealing character facts, but there's a good moral choice at the end.

Garrus' loyalty mission had both character development and a nice moral choioe. The argument with him if you take the paragon route was good.

Okay, I understand there.  My perspective was this:  Samara's recruitment is a dock/port setting.  These are pretty much a staple of FPS/TPS games.  Seen one, seen them all.

Tali's got me wondering:  what did this colony used to look like?  What's with the spires?  Was this built into a mountain as an exception or a rule?  Also, if you did step out into the light, and look off into the distance, the view is something else.  That brings me to the light:  like I said, this was one of the few missions where there was a nice tactical element to the environment.

In fairness, Samara's was another one, with those toxin containers.  Those more irritated me, though, since you have to hang back a long time waiting for them to dissipate.
