If so, what does she bring to a Collector fight? Does she work best for you only with specific other squadmates?

I don't use her all the time, but I use her frequently enough. Actually, I get a lot of mileage out of Garrus and Miranda.

I mainly use Tali for close in work and crowd control. Since everyone gawks at her combat drone, I can get them all together and waste em' with either Jack's Improved Shockwave, Squad Incediary Ammo, or Kasumi's Flashbangs upgraded to Frag Grenades (perfect for Soldier Shepards like mine). Shield Drain is also priceless against Geth, Blue Suns and Eclipse mercs, softening them up considerably for Garrus and I to put large holes in. Oh yeah, and she's got DAT SHOTGUN.

For Collectors, her Combat Drone is priceless, especially against Harbinger. When he's not looking at you, you can pile on the hurt with your second squadmates powers and your own. Miranda's Warp or Concussion Shots are worth their weight in gold for draining biotic barriers here.

In all honesty, on Insanity all my squaddies rely on me more than vice versa, it's a curse I have for only playing Soldier/Infiltrator on harder levels. On my Vanguard, I depended on them way more, so I noticed Tali saving my ass more frequently. My usual squad is Tali and a Carnifex + Garrus, I have to direct Garrus more to stay out of trouble no matter the weapon, so I tend to think there's some variability in the AI. Grunt was a perfect squaddie until we got to the derelict Collector ship, until then he was the only constantly reliable squaddie.

After Tali saved me from the Praetorian with Chiktikka during my kamikaze and refused to die the entire mission even when I wasn't directing her, I knew I wasn't just bringing her along because she's my LI. The thing that's funny about this is that for 4 playthroughs I always ignore Energy Drain and use AI Hacking...I can't wait to see the difference since I found out ED is actually NOT more useless than Hacking.

Did I mention I only played heavy-hitters? My Sentinel playthrough should be...interesting.

I use her as close-range support and duration CC. Combat Drone is her largest asset on Insanity, followed by her shotgun and Energy Drain against synthetics. Yes, she is in my party all the time, along with Garrus who is a sniper and can provide extra damage and instant long-range CC. To a Collector fight, she can disable one of the priority enemies for a decent amount of time (Collector Assassins and Scions) until I can also put my Combat Drone on Chikktika's target, or I can get enough aggro to tank it with my Sentinel. She seems to work best with a sniper at her back(Garrus) with +damage ammo like Armor-Piercing(again Garrus) to really make the Eviscerator potent at Short-Mid Range.

And then I say: "Legion, can you stop saying that? It brings back bad memories."

I also let Legion do the AI Hacking, becasue who needs a floating glowing ball to do distractions for you, when you can let the about five feet long rifle do the talk?

Tali + Carnifex + Cryo = Many dead things.

Squad cryo is the bestest.

Don't know why I'm not a fan of the heavy pistols in ME2. I figured it has to do with some residual feelings about using them in ME1 where they were the highest DPS of any weapon. I liked unleashing that endless stream of pistol death, even if it was incredibly unrealistic.

I use Tali and Garrus in my team. I upgrade his armo-piercing ammo to Tungsten. He's unstoppable with the sniper rifle. I use Tali as distraction with her combat drone.

One of the funniest scenarios for me is when Harbinger is telling his minions to concentrate on Shepard and you throw a combat drone at him. "Concentrate your fire on Shep--GET THIS DRONE OUT OF MY FACE!"

I'm not afraid to admit that I'm pretty terrible at this game. I've done a few missions on Insanity with Sentinel, but it's really goddamned hard and I'd rather.. you know.. enjoy playing instead of having to reload a couple dozen times.

Hah. I just discovered a very good spot for sniping on Horizon.



The moment I met Harbinger I headed to the right and ran up some stairs and suddenly I stood on a balcony with a great view of the battlefield.



And the best thing? The Collectors didn't even try to shoot back at me, while I took potshots left and right with my rifle. They were too focused on my teammates. Even Harbinger didn't care about me. Big mistake...

Well, I'd rather not have to play 6hrs a day to get decent enough to actually make it through an entire playthrough on Insanity without dying several dozen times per mission, thanks. Not sure how you're helping me.

Don't worry. I play on Insanity all the time, and I die all the time. But I'm having fun.

The only thing I regret doing on Insanity is picking Adept as my class. Goddamn, that one sucks...
