How is it that I always manage to derail a thread into talking about Legion without actually trying to?

EDIT: Well, this is awkward.

A very good post in the Miranda thread, Rip. Thank you.

I didn't do it for you.

I know that, and I'm glad you didn't. I'm just saying that it was a well thought out post. Though if you don't want to accept the compliment, that's fine.

The Mirandamancers who mind their own business don't need to hear my ramblings. If they do, they should know that nothing I say needs to be taken seriously, and I don't hate THEM, like some were saying. I just hate Miranda's character and everything she stands for. And Kraidy. If people disagree with that, hey, they have my full support, I have nothing against them.

Han'Gerrel, I believe. I also think that telling the admirals privately is better than telling the public immensely.

What do you expect the admirals to do about it?

That's because Legion is awesome. Simple.

Not on the same level as Tali, but still awesome.Image IPB

I personally would have opted fro a private reveal to only the Admirals of what really happened while letting the public get the paragon speech. Just like how you can tell that one Admiral the truth, the one that was friends with Rael. I can't remember the names.

I've always wondered if telling Han'Gerrel what really happened steer him away from the war movement, or actually commit him more. Han was rather close to Rael and maybe his loss could show him the cost of his war first hand. Thoughts?

Isn't speaking on her behalf exactly what Shepard is doing when he reveals the evidence? They did come to the Flotilla in the first place in help Tali not get exiled.

That's not why you go to the flotilla, you go to the flotilla to help Tali out in a dire situation.  She makes it very clear that it would be preferable to be exiled rather than have the evidence revealed.

Like the Sidonis decision, Shepard can decide that it's in Tali's best interest (so she is not exiled, and instead it's only her father who is reviled and not her) and Shepard can also decide that the Quarian people should know of the horrible experiments that a member of their government had done.

The stakes aren't nearly the same and pretty much everyone could agree on that.  What you do with Garrus is going against his wishes too, but that's where the similarities end.  Until I got on forums, I had thought that blocking the shot made Garrus unloyal, so there are some parallels there.  They could both be considered a betrayal, but Garrus is confused about the whole thing, while Tali is very clear.  That much is obvious.

I'll put it this way, if you go against Tali's wishes for something that Shep wants (exposing an evil, whatever,) its a betrayal.  If you do it because you think that she is too stupid to know what she really wants, I'm not sure if that's better or worse.

So will the rest of the story be more in line with this chapter's tone? Could turn out very good if done right.

The fact that Rael specifically mentioned telling Gerrel about the data doesn't make me expect good results from telling him.  I don't think Gerrel is nearly as clean and good as he comes across as, and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't at least know a little or support what Rael was doing.

It's not so much what I expect them to do. It's that it's their right to decide, in my opinion.
That said, I think not revealing the evidence completely is the better choice morally and logically. Of course, anyone who disagrees (short of just trying to malicious) is equally as valid.

Darker. It's getting MUCH darker. But yeah, it's going EXACTLY where you think it's going.

I find it comical that I am a reputed cynic of this forum, expecially this thread, yet I never bash other characters. I do state my opinions on them frequently, but I never say anything off colored or just ludicrous about a character, unless it was the intent.

Yeah, I just read what blew over in the Miranda thread.

I write all kinds of stories, and I hate the cliche of ever ending being happy. Some of my favorite movies are bittersweet or sad. Man on Fire and Million Dollar Baby are two of my all time favorites.

Good, not that we particularly like reading about pain, but dark tragedies do have a certain appeal, particularly when written well enough to allow you to get inside the thoughts of the main character, and to know the horror and pain firsthand.

Then again, what you said about about "one of the romances" when I asked was pretty funny (though I realize that was the intent).
