That doesn't... really work. Not when using an established character. You have no incentive to keep reading... it's like reading the ending of a book first... then reading the beginning... it just doesn't... the reader has no reason to continue reading.
That only works if the reader cares. Sure, Tali just died, but, so what? Tons of fics have that. There isn't any buildup to it. Her relationship with Shepard isn't fleshed out. There's no development. Sure, we all know who Tali is, but not in the context of your story. Give us a reason to care about YOUR Tali and Shepard, build up, intrigue, point and purpose, and when the audience cares, then you go off on a killing spree.
That's the stance Jones and I are taking with Reckoning, at any rate.
