The "girl has unrequited crush on guy for years and he finally notices" type. The girl (in general, Tali is a good bit better about this) tends to come off as a bit pathetic and the guy has most of the power in the relationship. I always wonder why the don't move on or at least get to do really impressive things to prove theor love. Knights in love with a princess get to slay dragons to impress her. Princesses in love with knights wait around for the knight to notice.

This is why I prefer to believe the actual romance started in ME2, rather than ME1.

Or, at the very least, the tail end of ME1.  I would prefer Tali to not be saddled with a silly "fangirl" kind of crush either.  It makes her a stronger character if she naturally grew into it.

Not that I think any of the regulars around here want to discuss it, but this is why I sense that Kal'Reegar/Tali'Zorah vibe going on. That guy with a crush on a girl who's too afraid to show it for fear of rejection. That girl who'd be open to the idea but is waiting for the guy to make the first move.

Anyway, the unrequited crush is probably what dropped my opinion of Tali far more than it should have for ME2. I have a strong dislike of romance (for every character, not just Tali), so to make it so obvious just doesn't sit well to me.

Reegar is pretty obviously married to the Fleet. Just sayin'.

He knows that he'll get into some deep s**t if he starts to date an admiral's daughter.

So was Tali. I can't imagine she'd ever have agreed to join the fight against the Collectors if it wasn't Shepard asking.

Unfortunately, they do everything but hot you over the head with the fact that she's been nursing a crush ever since you first met. I'd have liked it if she'd had a small crush, gotten over it, and then you had to work to pursue her, rather than the conversation immediately moving to "how do we do this?"

Hmmm what type of romance would you classify Talis as and why don't you like that type jtav?

Well technically she could act one her feeling as Shepard did die for 2 years. :P However as buddha said, I'm of the opinion that the actual love part only came into being after sheps death and his sudden return.  IT awakens the "what could have been" moments of the past. Also Tali isn't unactive while Shep is away she's off doign missions and stuff. :D

Given the exalted place that captains have in quarian culture, some hero-worship is to be expected, especially of one so unexpectedly kind and helpful (assuming, of course, the nice-guy Shep).  But in a way, ME1 Tali more dutiful than ME2 Tali since she ends up going back to the Flotilla and such, whereas ME2 Tali says (to a certain extent) "man, F- this Flotilla noise."

The entire trial thing did happen.

Fair answer.  However, she'd still have gotten screwed over by the Admiralty and experienced the disillusionment with the Flotilla.

I don't agree with you. However, I have a picture for this occasion and I must use it. It's in my contract or something.

I also have this picture, but it's not related in any way.

True, but even before that, on Haestrom, she's questioning the point of the Admiralty sacrificing all those lives for science data.

By the time 2 rolls around, Tali is fed up with the quarian leadership in general.

I think Buddha and I covered that fairly well in Noir.

Well they do have several talks about other things....:P Most it's just down to  the same dea las the other relasionships, they all are on fast forward. She also in the situation of the suiside mission, so has pressure to move things along quickly because it could be the last time for them all to be living. ^_^

Interesting to think about what would have happened had Tali been in the Migrant Fleet when the events of the Alarei happened. Easy to blame someone from afar versus one standing right before you.

Makes you wonder...

Would she have stood by Shepard? Or Rael, if she had to choose?

The conversation with Kal'Reegar later on does indicate the threat is very real for whatever unknown reasons. We won't know why until ME3 probably. If we're lucky.

The fact that the game moves at the speed of plot makes this a difficult thing to form theories on.  But presumably she wouldn't be in the Flotilla, what with her usually being on missions collecting geth parts.  Since that's what they hit her with.

Would be pretty hard to accuse someone of bringing geth material, when they've been on the flotilla for quite some time before it happened.

Entirely dependent on character development, I think. Her time with Shepard on the SR-2 I think changes her character enough that she'd stand by Shepard. Without that time, though, I think she'd have stood by Rael'Zorah.
