A middle initial in the game. It appears as Joshua N. Shepard, but I know it means Niles. My main femshep, a Renegon, is Roxanne J. Shepard. J is short for Jane.

Giving them a middle initial flags that Shepard as being one of my "main" Shepards, as I had several by the name of Joshua and couldn't remember which was which. Eventually, I found a way to delete old save files I didn't want by using XTAF, but until then, I relied on the Initial.

I also typed up full background for both of my main Shepards to make roleplaying easier. It REALLY added something special to the game. I could post, if anyone is interested.

I recall the dialogue choices being confusing for those parts, last playthrough I accidently ended up siding with Ashley over Liara or something when I didn't want to.  Hopefully that doesn't happen this time with Tali, I'd have to reload the game and play a lot of stuff over

Well... I guess it depends on perspective. On the one hand, saying you love someone during sex often denotes lust as opposed to sex. With quarians, it's more important to tell them you love them when you're not having sex, I'd think. That way, they know that with or without the suit, you're there for them.

But I could see it going either way.

I didn't see it like that.  Seemed pretty clear, even in the chapter that the two events weren't related, and that the realization that he did love her was more from the events that they had just experienced together.  Once he realizes it, the current setting was as good as any to tell her.  That was my interpretation at least, I never saw any chance that he was saying it for the wrong reason.
