No kidding. It was a good read, too.
I found playing as Kyle Shepard was a lot more fun after mentally establishing my own personal back story for him and then making his choices based off of that. Never bothered to write it out before, but now you've got me tempted to try.

someone else (in some cases, both). I want to see what she'll say about
my Shep & Tali being together. probably congratulatory.
if the player "cheated" on Liara though, could be scary

I prefer in-character writing, mind maps, and character journals. I gotta get into their heads to understand them, myself.
It's a bit of effort, and something I've only ever done for Mass Effect, but it REALLY breathes life into the story.
True. Most Shepards are indeed boring. That's why I've worked to go a different route. I want my Shepard to feel like a narrow-minded **** sometimes. Many Shepards in Tali fics are too goody-goody, for me. My Shepard is intended to be rough, but good natured.
Though I probably should include a physical description in Grand Escapades so you know you're not dealing with the default face :V
I never describe the Shepard in ANY of my pics, and in my art, he always has a helmet and the default armor, even though I use White Armor.
That way it can be ANYONE's Shep, even mine. <3

Or you could for a combo of personality traits and quirks you like and create a backstory based off of that. Either or. I prefer this method because I like my characters to be unique and quirky out the gate.

Someone in one of the many threads discussing the DLC pointed out that such a confrontation being in a DLC would cheat all those who don't buy it and wait for ME3. Perhaps taking down the Shadow Broker is not the time to go into personal details?

Liara annoys me. I don't want to help her do anything, including taking down the Shadow Broker. I would have left her on Therum if there was an option to do so.Collider wrote...

Agreed. It would be a REALLY sucky place to put what should be an important moment for most ME players.
Unless, of course, instead of releasing ME3, BioWare has decided to give it to us in a series of unorganized DLC.

I want to take Thane with me to meet the Shadow Broker just so Thane can shoot him in the head for Irikah. My Shepard isn't going to hold a grudge against the Shadow Broker about the selling my dead body thing and the whole Feron/Liara thing has nothing on Thane's issues with the guy.SU37 wrote...

That's the way I used to play, but I found pure-paragon Shep to be too stiff for my liking.
So the way I play now is, about, 90% paragon 10% Renegade. Pretty much anyone who gives crap to Shepard (or more importantly: Tali) gets a taste of some Lower Right.
