That reminds me, had an idea for an FF. 
 
The Normandy coming across the Voyager 1 space craft sent by NASA in the 70's. Specifically made for aliens to find, it has a large golden record stored in it, with the silhouetes of two humans, male and female. It has a quote on it, that I think speaks for what humanity truly desires. 

"We hope to live through our time, so that we can live into yours"

The platform under their feet rumbled as it activated and began to move. Shepard watched as the rest of his team scattered to cover to hold the line against the collectors. He turned to his team. His true second, brother in arms, and best friend stood to his left, arming his sniper rifle.

To his right, the focus of most of his thoughts. I am glad we had at least the time before the relay he thought as he looked to Tali. They were always so close. Now, closer than ever. It was right, that these two were with him.

He loaded a fresh thermal clip, and noticed that Tali and Garrus did the same. He was struck by a memory, of the last time the three had gone against impossible odds: Ilos, then on to the Citadel. He smirked; As always, it was the three against the world. It was comforting, familiar, and surprisingly welcome. They had survived then, they will survive now.

"This is just like old times," Shepard said to his allies.

Garrus smirked and nodded. Tali tiled her head, and smiled behind her mask.

"No Shepard, it's not," She said softly. Shepard turned to her, and met her gaze. He started to smile.

"It's better than old times," she finished, meeting her commander's look. Garrus just shook his head, and turned himself to watch where the platform was taking them.
