It was often said, in the days of myth of and magic,
that there was a place of eternal paradise at the mouths of four rivers.

Upon this perfect garden a people of immense power ruled over the world,
at times with a benevolent hand, with others a malicious fist.

At all times however there was but one rule: Do not partake of the forbidden things.

These objects were vessels of both indescribable power and danger,
their mere presence enough to shift the very fabric of the universe.

If ever there was a time of polarizing dichotom

Tali'Zorah watched as Shepard plinked away at his omni-tool,
no doubt fiddling with the contrast settings.

"Sheppy, I'm going down to see Dr. Chakwas."
She sneezed, causing her entire body to shake.

Shepard looked up for half a second, then returned his gaze to the orange device.
"Uh-huh, see you later dear." He turned towards the fish tank and barely noticed as
Miss Zorah shook her head in slight bewilderment.

"I swear to my ancestors that if he's playing Starcraft with Garrus again..."

If ever there was a time of polarizing dichotomy,
of good and evil, of right and wrong, of light and dark,
this was not that time.

All were in perfect harmony, there were no transgressions against a fellow man.
Sin was unfathomable, and the only thing that could break such peace was a falle

"Hey Shepard." The hooded figure before him seemed to appear out of thin air.

"Jesus, Kasumi, you scared me." Without another word he pulled out his office chair
and resumed typing. Kasumi tilted her head with a mix of concern and curiosity.

She crossed her arms. "What are you doing?" Shepard continued to ignore her.

"Right then. You know I'll find out eventually." And with that she disappeared.

Sin was unfathomable, and the only thing that could break such peace was a fallen Angel.

The only thing that could redeem that fallen angel, was another angel.

"You're my angel Tali."

THREE DAYS LATER

Tali'Zorah stretched her arms as she exited the Med Bay.

Even from the Mess Hall she could hear the distinctive sounds of
Siege Tanks and Zealots coming from the main battery.

"Garrus, I'm coming in there and I'm shoving that Omni tool straight up your a-"

She tripped and fell straight into Shepard's arms. He gently raised her to her feet.
"Mi'lady." He opened a leatherbound box and presented her with a book.
She was surprised to say the least. "What is this for?"

"You're the smartest woman I know, I'm sure you'll figure it out."
With that Shepard did an about face and took the elevator down to the shuttle.

Tali opened the book, and read the dedication.

"To my angel, the woman I love, the woman that gave me a reason to keep fighting this war we may not in."

A single article fell out of the binding, a photo.

Shepard and Tali were sitting together in the original Normandy,
his face was scarred to the point of ill recognition.
Both emotionally and physically.
The image was fuzzy, do to it being taken from an automated security camera, but its context was clear.

"Virmire. Both Ashley and Kaidan died. Garrus was unconcious, Wrex wasn't talking, Liara blamed Shepard."

She read the caption on the photo.

If you're reading this, let it be known that the woman in this photo saved the Galaxy.

I remember that character of yours, Rip.

Got to say, like the design. The mask is awesome, kinda reminds me of Jason's hockey mask, in an insanely bad ass way.

Are you going to write a story about your character?

I've always entertained the idea of writing a book. I know I could do it, if I took the time and did it right. I don't have the skill to do my own graphic novel, at least not reasonably, but who knows? Maybe one day I'll be able to do something special with her. I do have a great deal of concepts and backstory kept on file in my head though.

Tali acted as partial inspiration for her design and back story. Completely my own character, not Mass Effect or anything, but something that is completely my own. My first character ever. Still in VERY early stages.

nice,
I like the mask.

HA!

I actually used him as inspiration!

I haven't seen Jack of Blades in at LEAST Five years... but I remembered enough of him to use some of his concepts in her design. You win Infinite Riptide points for that.

Tali hand slithered up and down Shepard’s side feeling his skin slip though her fingers like a shawl of silk. His legs rubs against hers feeling the same sensation causing her toes to curl with ecstasy as Tali’s two hands work their way to his shoulders straddling his waist under the crisp blankets. Both stared at each other, torrents of love glittered in their eyes. Tali leaned over slipping her lips into his sensually kissing. His body heat washed over her like a warm blanket, radiating, his blood swirling inside him pushed by his fiercely beating heart. Tali could feel his pulse, it was exhilarating. Slowly, she dragged her lips out of his mouth brushing them against his cheek going towards his ear. Her teeth nipped and at his lobe sending heat sprawling across her suave skin like an ocean wave crashing into the shore crawling its way up the beach. Breathing out, her warm breath tickled and kissed his face as she grinned letting go a subtle laugh. She shifted on his lap throwing sable shadows across the dimly lit room kissing his neck and nibbling on his other ear gingerly, wetting it ever so slightly with the film of saliva on her teeth.

Yeah.

Her Name is Janan Khalidah, meaning "Immortal Heart". A lot of her personality and backstory parallels Kali, Hindu Goddess of Motherhood and Destruction. I have two pieces planned for her. This one is the Destruction piece, with "Indestructible by Disturbed" acting as pretty much my only musical inspiration. I plan to do another piece with the mask removed, in a more tender moment, so it'll be interested to see if I can round out the angles into a more somber composition. It's definitely been interesting, designing her. I've only ever done fan art before...

I'd be interested to see the two pieces side by side when you're done. Might I suggest that you try to work a few more broad curves into the second image, even if its in the background. I've noticed that sharp angles (even the angle of the horizon in the original pic) give the viewer a sense of kinetic energy, motion, which is generally a more aggressive, forceful feel, while broader curves and level lines give more of an 'at rest' sense.

Of course its all relative, but just thoughts from the top of my head.

Who knows, maybe this could prosper into something greater. It's an interesting character, so you're already at a head start.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not going to edit the first pic into the second. They'll be two completely different pieces, differen't poses and everything.

But thank you for the advice.

Yeah. I'll keep developing her story, her design, that kind of thing. This piece is getting VERY special treatment from me. Normally, this would be the half way point in a pic. I'd still say this one is in sketching phase. Thanks again everyone. Appreciate it.

Ahh okay, I see. I thought you were going for more of a yin and yang kind of images. Same general content, pose etc but different 'feel'. Gotcha.
