Thanks to Dazedy at gamefaqs.com for pointing to Coalesced_F1_God.ini file at http://www.mediafire.com/?g1eyq2i1tyd .   Download the file and move it to where your Coalesced.ini file is (which is where ME2 is installed), backup your Coalesced.ini, then rename this file as Coalesced.ini .   During gameplay you can toggle God mode on/off using F1 key, although there is no indication if you're in it or not.   Fantastic!

Obviously, to get past a particularly difficult point in the game.

Agreed, just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD do it.  But thats America for you (yes Im 100% American, born and raised), instant gratification.  These are the people who brag about beating insanity with an adept on their first playthrough.  Of course they forget to mention that they maxed out all their skills at level 6 using the exploit, and think everyone should give them props for being so cool.

Um, Ive come across alot of difficult points in the game, and life for that matter.  Ive yet to cheat to get through any of them, and yet I did get through them. Every single one of them.

Haha, you can play on casual mode to finish the game without dying too much. I've finished the game two times in insanity mode using adept and its just like eating popcorn. Why oh why god mode? It ruins the game experience buddy.

Im not saying adept insanity cant be done, working on it now, just wondering tho, did you do it at all with an imported ME2 character? One you had already beat the game with?  No criticism at all, just curious, every time ive beat insanity has been with a fresh character.

My thoughts as a casual gamer have long been that a game should allow you some help in completing it when you are stuck. In a shooter, if I'm stuck at a difficult point (ex. my character killed a number of times) and I cannot seem to get past it no matter what I do, then I'd like some help. I prefer a cheat by getting extra shield and/or health so that my character can still die. But if god mode is the only thing available then I'll use it briefly. Next time I play the game I'll be better and may not need to use it. But there must be some help available or else I can't continue the game and enjoy it.

Agree with Configurator on this one - would like a god mode for splinter cell: conviction during the laser traps! There are just some days when we just wanna have fun, people, not have to work at it all the damn time... If there were more cheat modes on games there would be less unfinished games on people's shelves. We don't all have the reflexes of a hopped up hummming bird on Red Bull, ya know! Some of us are older or have lives and can't spend our every waking minute playing games.

You have a "God Mode" alerady via the difficulty switch. Having problems, turn it down.

Unless of course you're trying really hard to get the Harcore/Insanity achievements. In which case, you're cheating yourself. Personally, I would rather have them incomplete than achieved via cheats.

I shamefully admit to nearly cheating at an exam but its only cause the F$%$ing idiot lectuerer told us we longer to do it in then one day he said we had to do it the next day F$$ing W!""£er.!!!

Cheating in life is not bad everyone actually does it in one form or another, e.g. borrowing work or taking long notes online.

but why would you cheat in ME2? its easy!

God mode could be very usefull to measure diffrent enemies stats (Shield , Barrier, Armor, Health hit points ) using the base unupgraded melee attack 125 damage per hit vs everything.

Then having the base(rounded) stats you could work out the formulas for weapons bonuses , ammo bonuses, class passive bonuses, miranda squad damage bonus , research damage bonuses and see how it all ties toghether (weapon damage formulas) ... Compare endgame weapon effectivity vs power effectivity ...

Beeing able to know that for example Legion(Widow) can two shot Harbinger with Squad Warp ammo and tree shot him with Squad AP ammo (hypotetical since i don't have Harbinger's hit point numbers and the sniper rifle single shot damage formula ...)

In my personal opinion, unless you can beat Quake 1 in under 20 minutes, you ain't sh!t and should stop bragging.

I can't achieve this, so I don't brag.

Wow, People are taking this wayyy too seriously.

I'm probably gonna try this baby out after I beat Insanity and get bored.

It's always fun running around and punching everything to death in God mode.

Obviously most of you are too young to have played Doom.

No, not too young, God mode in Doom - fun, God mode in ME2 - can't imagine it would be quite the same so - meh why bother, I prefer the challenge still havent got through a whole game on insanity, barely got through on hardcore at times.

There's nothing wrong with cheats. As far as I'm concerned, if a game is too difficult for the intended audience, has ridiculous difficulty spikes, etc., then that's a fault of the designers, and players shouldn't be punished by being forced to replay extremely challenging segments over and over until they can do it just right.  It's better for the player to cheat through one section of the game and continue with the story, rather than give up in frustration.

I'd rather have a heavy weapon ammo replenish station on the Normandy so I can stop hording ammo and use them.

In [user name]/my documents/bioware/mass effect 2/binaries/

Make a text file with just the word "god" in it (no quotes).

Example:

[user name]/my documents/bioware/mass effect 2/binaries/godmode.txt

Edit your coalesced.ini (with notepad++) under [SFXGame.SFXGameModeBase] add a bind to 'exec' the text file you just made.

Example:

Bindings=( Name="G", Command="Exec godmode.txt" )

Recompile your edited coalesced.ini with me2inifixer and you're good to go. Start ME2 up and just press G to toggle god mode on and off while playing.

That just makes my ME2 crash and burn...

God mode would be nice to just once in a while, while trying to get through on Insanity, just say "Screw it, DIE DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIE"

:D

Rather run up to them and pummle them to death.
