just one of the many many examples and reasons that Awakenings is pure garbage...at least you saw Alistair.....my human noble who romanced Leliana saw no hide or hair of her or my faithful dog until the ending epilogues.....which I won't spoil here other then to say they were absolutely stupid.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. And that's a good point: where is my bloody dog?

Aye
She doesn't give a rat's a** of you, you were just a tool for the landsmeet to allow her to stay in power as Queen (and since you are prince consort you are pretty much nothing more than a flower pot nearby the throne).

WTF?! Just started playing Awakening with my much treasured female human noble who married Alistair (whom I might add he announced as his Queen at his coronation, but is referred to as the Princess-consort in the epilogue (which earns another wtf)) and their greeting of one another left a rather bitter taste in my mouth. Considering that in Origins the story implies that they couldn't keep their hands off one another, the scene is ridiculous. First thing I have to say is that Alistair's dialogue sounds stiff. And why is the Queen bowing and averting her eyes from her husband? Another thing I have a problem with is Varel: Alistair is looking at his Queen when he asks what the situation is and yet Varel blurts out his nonsense, which is so totally rude and disrespectful. That definitely should earn him some lashes, if not a beheading. And Mhairi... she suddenly bows down fawning over King Alistair, but how come my character didn't get a similar 'my Queen' speech? However the thing that really got my goat and prompted this rant was the kiss on the cheek.
A KISS ON THE CHEEK?! Are you crapping in my sandwich and telling me it's peanut butter?! Gaaah!Considering how he called her a temptress and a minx in the dialogue, it's bloody insulting. Is he already trying for an heir with someone else?
Lame alright. My guess is during their little round table of discussion regarding Awakening it was to be a completely separate chapter in the story with a new Warden commander (hence the Orlesian option). Sometime in development someone probably piped up "hey aren't the customers going to be pissed if they can't bring over their Origins character?" So this guy gets edited in afterwards half-assed, heh.

That is a very biased view. The Warden Commander is a big Hero and popular in Fereldan. Whether she likes it or not Anora cannot ignore the Prince. It's also evidence that Anora is worried that a human noble Prince can usurp her power. Neither is it a forgone conclusion that a player cannot reach some sort of accomodation with Anora based on a measure of trust and even possibly intimacy.
It's simply not enough evidence either way yet, unless you by evidence mean that you "know" that Anora is evil incarnate and base your assumptions on that...

Alistair's dialogue is stiff because some of it has to work for all PC's and he's talking to you in front of his men and your men. You are meeting each other as the King and Warden-Commander, not as husband and wife or lovers. I'm actually surprised that they implied as much as they did. Also, I don't think he kisses you at the end- I'm almost positive he whispers something smutty.
As for Varel answering, of course he does. He a) is voiced and

That's pretty much the only thing that Awakening acknowledges. Everything else is a linear story that's exactly the same for 99% of players.
-No one cares if you're queen/king
-Leliana, Zevran and dog disappeared from the face of the earth. Not even a simple codex to fill you up....
-Oghren settled down and had a child with Felsi whether you helped him or not. Even if you kicked him out of your party in DAO he's still your "friend"
-Wynne changed her plans.... I even heard she shows up even if you killed her... WTF?!
-No one gives a s*** if Alistair or Loghain killed the archdemon. You take all the credit. They actually used false marketing for this... they said the manner of which the AD is slain will have an impact... lol
What you did in Origins matters little. You can even play a dead PC and see no difference in the Awakening storyline.

If I'd been playing a FHN Queen, though, I'd totally agree with you. Where is the respect and acknowledgement of one's royal role?
That said, there was nary a word about the Denerim alienage, of which my character had chosen to be Bann at the end of Origins, so... I guess the decisions one makes in Origins just aren't acknowledged much in general!

Don't feel bad! Even if you marry Alistair at 0 Neutral, he gives you the same warm greeting.

QFT
For one they had to make the dialogue fit other players who weren't importing a PC who romanced and king'd Alistair (hence I believe one reason your PC kneels to the king even if she is his wife). Plus they have to behave themselves in front of the men, it wouldn't do for the WC and the King to act like hormonal teenagers. That he manages to slip in a few naughty references (Temptress, minx etc) in the conversation was very much in character for me and made me smile.
Also yes, I think he was whispering something naughty not kissing the PC. He bends down close to her and seems to say something, the PC even has a small smile on her face and seems to slightly nod. I still wanna know WHAT he says but yes I do think he was saying something not kissing her cheek.
And look at it this way you got a LOT more with that cameo than those who romanced Leli, Zev, non-king Alistair or Morrigan did.

Did you really imagined that Bioware would've made a custom introduction for each "origins" or outcomes you choosen in DAO ? :innocent:
Be at least happy, only people who romanced Alistair seen their romance in the game others just got nothing.

Mkay.
- Makes nothing after her husband is dead and let daddy mess things up.
- Tries to side with a notorious snake against her father.
- Sells you to Ser Cauthrien when you save her.
- Sides against you at the Landsmeet if you don't support her for Queen.
- Executes Allister if you name her Queen and don't ask mercy for him.
- Refuse to swear loyalty to Alister if he is choosen as King.
- Fights with you over power (ending).
- Doesn't want to have a child/heir.
And maybe more, i didn't focus on her and most likely forgot some
I am not a big fan of oversimplifications but everything depicts at her being selfish, childish, and hungry for power, hiding behind political maneuvers and plots.
In my book the least offensive word to depict such a person would be : foul.

He's the king. Do you really expect him to create a spectacle? He was a little iffy on public displays of attention before he was king. The kiss on the cheek, which some insist is a whisper in the ear, is entirely in character. As for the kneeling, that was to acknowledge that Amaranthine (of which the PC is effectively Arlessa) is vassal to the ruler of Fereldan. It was a political moment and ceremonial.
This is true. Try to think of it in modern terms if it helps. Imagine Alistair is president of a multi-million dollar corporation and you, are his lover or even wife and also vice-president. Would you make out on the board meeting? If you are King every moment, except when you are alone is basically a 'board meeting'. It's possible some players feels that they might screw the formalities, but I think Alistair would be far to good a King to do so.

this, seriously. Not only do you have Oghren and Anders behind you (man, kissing anything in from of them, oyvey) as well as what looks like a sizable amount of templars. So ~~*~romantic~~*.
What did you expect? "Take me now, MY DARKING ROSEEEE? Do me here infront of the ruined, bloodied gates of the Keep?"
lolno.
