I created a poll to find out what the majority here thinks about Jacob. There is A LOT of Jacob bashing, it's fun mostly, but there are also people  who state that he is allright.
The general statment made is that "Nobody likes Jacob".
I am curious what the results will be and I would really appreciate it, if many community members would give their opinion.
I hope that I provided the poll with sufficient answer options.

I'd say Jacob was the worst squadmate in a Bioware game ever...

Jacob is pretty boring.

But while I did make this,

that doesn't mean I "hate" him.

How dare you, good forumite!

He was awesome in game 2. In game 1 he was like ugh.

Oh, in 2 he was great! But since that's not a Bioware game, it doesn't count. In 1 he would open a single Sith base door for me, then get swapped out and left on the ship for the rest of the game.

There should have been "I hate him as a LI but he is good as a drink buddy"

Shepard: Jacob, you're a moron.

Jacob: Yeah, you're right Commander.

*

Jacob: Will you help me with my father?

Shepard: No.

Jacob: Yeah, it's probably best not to bother with it.

*

Shepard: How are you today Jacob?

Jacob: Meh, okay.

This is why.

Truth. I don't think I bothered to get two beeps out of him after Taris. Not like he had anything at all of interest to say anyway.

I guess you're right and it doesn't count if it was Obsidian and not Bioware.

Jacob was okay, but his powers weren't much of a complement because my main character already was a Vanguard. Same goes for Jack, their personalities were okay but their powers weren't that good when you're already a Vanguard yourself.

Still think Jacob is full of steroids though. He had massive bulk on top, but nothing on the bottom (no sexual innuendo intended).

I like Jacob, he's a straight forward mercenary type character. His loyalty mission is pretty decent and his dialogue was pretty well done...

Until I tried my very first Femshep, then I started to see why people are having issues with his dialogue.

Yeah, as femShep it was just intolerable.

But even as maleShep, every talk with Jacob seemed to amount to, "Go away. I'm just fine without you bothering my existence."

Not liking someone isn't the same as hating someone.

I nothing'd Jacob. All of his cool background is ignored (why couldn't his loyalty mission have been about the Corsairs?) and his 'cant talk' line is annoying.

My problem isn't with Jacob as much as it was with Femshep's interactions with Jacob. I couldn't tolerate talking with him for more than 5 seconds because she did that awful voice and squirmed all over the damned table.  And once I finally got past the squirmy sexy crap he had absolutely nothing to say.   I avoided him like the plague.

Plus, there's the whole Priiiize thing.... all his interactions were like some bad soft core movie. Ugh.

I voted: 'Jacob is my buddy, he's allright'

Because...he is.

Jacob was alright. I enjoyed talking to him, he is a good guy with some interesting things to say. He just didn't really bring anything to the table squad power wise.

He generally lacked any/all personality. He was just not interesting to talk to in the slightest.

I found his Pull and Squad Ammo power to be useful with my Sentinel.  I took him along a good bit during that playthrough.

Jacob is my buddy. Just because he doesn't have some crazy background drama doesn't mean he's boring. I'm glad he was honest with me during the entire game. That's hard to find.

Hm I think the problem most people here have with Jacob is the romance thing. I played only once with a FemShep which stayed loyal to her ME 1 LI, so I avoided the "Are you single?" (or something similar) dialogue option and everything was fine. However I saw the romance vids and it is bad indeed.

Jacob is my bro. He's probably the kind of guy I'd have as a friend in real life.

Plus, something to remember: He's the first Cerberus employee you meet in the franchise who isn't trying to kill you.
