He somehow flips my Shep's sleazebag switch but I blame my Shep for that. What really pisses me off is I've banned saluting on my ship but he insists. Whadda jarhead.
What is it with Jacob? Time to finally make a judgement.

Everybody hates him coz hes black.
Just kidding. I played male Shep and I loved this guy, I always wished that there were more conversations with him.
But then when I played with female Shepard......dude......its awful. I can't believe Bioware actually made this.

Well, the interaction with FemShep has a lot to do with it, but he has a terrible skillset as well.

Has anyone here played Mass Effect: Galaxy? I was just wondering if maybe it gave Jacob a bit more character development. Playing Bioware games a lot has caused me to expect characters to spill their guts at the least provocation, and with Jacob this just didn't happen. I ask him about his dad, he says he's over it and that I should leave him alone, I ask him about his history with Miranda and he blows me off. There seemed to be interesting parts of his personality...somewhere, but he refused to talk about it, which just made me stop caring and move on to greener pastures.

No, he doesn't really have any more character development in Galaxy. Since in Galaxy you are playing AS Jacob, you can't talk to him/yourself to get more backstory. He actually does come off as more likable in the iPhone game, but that's mostly because he doesn't talk much so he can't annoy you with his irritating cranky macho lack of personality.

I originally found Jacob kinda "meh". Never liked him, didn't mind him either. Up until he started badmouthing people cooler than him.
- “I just have to EARN that trust.""Already? I'm not big on forcing these talks." Ah that's helping.
- "I don't like mercenaries." I dare you to go to Cargo Observation, stand in front of Zaeed's dart board and say that again.
- "Assassins are just precise mercenaries." Well that's better than hypocritical mercenaries such as yourself no?
- "Don't forget to introduce yourself to our AI." I half-expected Tali to shoot eye laser beams from behind her mask and kill him. That'd be hilarious.
- "I say blow him(Legion) out of the airlock." How about you keep your mouth shut for a change and I won't blow you out of the airlock?
Ironically I've come to liking Kaiden so much more cuz of Jacob.

I found that every time I took him on a mission on Insanity he always got shot down in the first five seconds. It was always me and my other squadmate finishing the fight.

He is cool as a wingman but BW messed him up on many levels - The physique, the stereotypical one liners (gravity, good stuff, lit on the citadel), the femshep interaction and Jacob gets most of the cutscenes on recruitments so he picks up most of the ire from new squaddies who dont like or trust Cerberus and they have him saying crap like the Speakeasy13 post above.
BW have him trying too hard most of the time - should have mixed in some Samuel Jackson (Die Hard, Pulp Fiction) or gone with a Ving Rhames or Dennis Haysbert personality model.
Great suit though - wish my Vanguard Shep could wear an Alliance one as casual wear.

I like him as a friend but I hate him as a LI.
Just remembering that PRIIIIIIIIIIIZE thing makes me want to jump out of the window, as well as the way FemShepard talks and the fact that he says Miranda needs a better man, yet believes he's good enough for Shepard.

From what I've gathered, hanging out with Jacob as a girl is terrible, but when I played through as a male Shep I liked Jacob. He's not emo, he's friendly and he's dependable. And he has your back. No problems as far as I'm concerned, except maybe he's a little boring. Still, completely competent and capable, it's hard to argue with that

Just a couple things I wrote about Jacob in another thread. The second quote is response to the feeling that Jacob is "too normal."

I don't get why everyone dislikes Jacob. The dude is upfront and honest, 2 qualities that I find very valuable with my real life friends. I always felt that he would have my back.... if he could stay alive.

I guess "too normal" may be a turn off for some. With me, "too normal" makes him stand out even more amongst the band of misfits.
