It should not matter what race you are, this is a game. You are playing as a HNF Cousland with the characters the game gives you - you need to role play on that - not based on who you are. There are plenty of skin colours and races to choose from.

If this game had the ability to make a RP persistent world I would say it may be an issue, but since you are the only one who will know what ever works for you. But myself I made my noble with white hair call it premature greying lol. And since I was the youngest daughter, go figure you get married you stop being a Cousland and take on your Husbands name, except in rare cases. I am so glad my brother survived to carry on the family line. I so looked forward to killing that weasel I made sure it was me.

Just imagine that Mom (a former battle maiden) and Dad (who knows way too much about wenches) have an open marriage. Worked for my redheaded stepchild nobles.

What's a wench? is that what you pull on to get the bucket out of the well?

That lil boy was too cute for words. That whole family was so well written and warm and just so completely NATURAL! Definitely my favorite Origin story.

With my HFN (who looked a lot like the mage in my avatar) I just ~presumed~ that Duncan took a stroll to good ol' Highever about two decades ago and, well, met upon the fair Elenora Cousland, and bam, nine months later, Eleanora is praising the Maker that Bryce is legally blind. With my mage I just assumed Rivani blood.

Speaking as a mixed race kid myself (half white, half Korean) trying to make a character that looks like me is a lost cause, so I just have fun. My other standard was a ash blonde, pale character. I've had redheads as well. Tis all in the name of fun for mme.

well gosh darn it the my baby HFN was just so cute when she was born Eleanor completely forgot to murder her husband and kept her. Awwww. Plus she got the girl she always wanted and he got the boy

Now....can someone post pics of their HMN/HFN's?? I I keep making the humans look so.... I dunno... flat....

my dwarven characters come out looking really pretty though.

In Dragon Age, a wench is basically a female bartender, or a female who drinks and possibly has sex a lot. Basically in general terms a wench is like a witch but with a letter B in the beginning.

Hahaha Oren's best line comes if you play a HNM and tell Fergus the "no fewer than 3 (women)" line.  Cuteness over 9000!

I also play a black HN.  I had some RP story in the back of my mind the first time, but I don't even remember it now.  I don't even really think about it anymore tbh.  I just go for what i like.  it doesn't bother me much.

Haha, well the convo goes something like this:

Fergus: When you have a woman in your life you'll understand.
PC: No fewer than three, if you please.
Fergus: Bold talk little brother!  I mean a real woman, not a turn in the straw...
Oren: You like to play in the stable too, Uncle!?  I like to roll in the hay!!!
Orianna: Don't you listen to this!

I almot wish the PC's parents were some random nobility and the Couslands took you in or something....

uh..you have your RP reason right THERE.

at NO TIME does it say you are absolutely BLOOD related....who's to say you aren't adopted?

yes it's stupid that there isn't some pallete swap to match the skin-tone you chose....Fallout 3 does it rather well...however...

it's not like it's hard to get past it.

As a white female, I find the lack of black and asian looking characters in this game kinda disturbing. Don't get me wrong, I understand that it has a very 'medaeval european' feel (so white, white, white) and that there are racist issues between dwarves/elves/humans. That doesn't ease my mind much though.

how doesn't it ease your mind if you're perfectly aware of why those ethnicities aren't represented much...

not everything in this world is politically correct..and not everything in a video game has to be either.

the fact those ethnicities aren't prevelant (sp?) just helps to blend in more with the world.

I am not racist at all but I find it hard to take a show/movie/whatever serious when it's set in a time that certain ethnicities weren't around..yet....there they are...all over the place.

even if it's set in a time when there were typically african american slaves (for example) you hardly see any if any at all...and typically any african america actors in the flick are just every day joe's or even leads....which, sorry, in context of the setting..is stupid.

it doesn't keep me from enjoying said game/movie/show but it definately negatively affects suspension of belief.

don't listen to that! Ha!

How many of us created our characters and thought: man I don't look anything like any of my relatives??

At least I was good looking.

Recessive gene??

To be honest, my Human Noble and City Elf really did resemble their relatives completely by accident. Hell, my female CE even has red hair...

The Avie I use is my Cousland Warrior, Valora...so the pic at the left and no its not the first PC I made.  That was many playthroughs ago.  I don't still have her, I made a lot of mistakes in that game.

As I said, in the case of males, Anora will specifically state that they are "of Cousland blood". Of course, that line only comes up if you suggest marriage, so it's a simple case of skipping it if you want to go with the "adoption" route. ;)

Or you could be a nephew Bryce and Eleanor adopted.

It seems like extreme political correctness to complain about the lack of ethnic diversity in Dragon Age.The game setting is analogous to a medieval European kingdom. Even in the modern world, there are many countries who are not ethnically diverse. It's silly to expect a video game set in a fantasy world to reflect modern expectations of diversity.

ok rerolled my cousland.... and decided to say frack the rules about blood lol....in my weird mind I'll go the adoption route or orphan.....

What does the PC have to do to get marriage between Anora/Alistair? I know you gotta get Al to the love area...but what else?

Oh... can the PC kill both Loghain and Howe? That'd be epic especially I made this one a warrior

You don't have to have Ali in the love zone to marry either the warden or Anora.

Edit: And yes, you can make lots of people you don't like die!

If Anora is going to marry anyone, it helps to discuss it before the Landsmeet as then it's not a persuade option that you could fail when it comes up at the Landsmeet. And she absolutely will not marry the person who killed her father and if Loghain is still alive, Alistair will only stick around if hardened.
