It's Tali's birthday, so they're going to take her to Chuck E. Cheese. She's never been to one, as the Flotilla lacks the resources to maintain fun family establishments such as it.

What really bothers me is that even if you swallow the hare-brained logic that somehow the whole team had to get off the Normandy, it still doesn't make any sense. The way I understand it, they can't fly anywhere because EDI's testing the IFF, so she "suggests you take a shuttle to your next location", which means now suddenly the landing shuttle is apparently capable of long-distance space travel. WTF indeed.

It also doesn't add much of anything to the story except for the possibility of the entire crew except Joker dying. The segment where you play as Joker isn't particularly fun and totally breaks immersion, and it's not like they weren't going to the Collector base anyway, abducted crew or not. I guess they thought it would be a nice "shocking plot twist", but it really just doesn't work on any level, it's just silly.

this is not a true rpg its a shooter with a good story like gears of war play the game once and shelf it dont think about the game just shoot and get to the end . im sory im a bit bitter that this game for me was not as much an rpg as i needed it to be , i do like it but im trying hard not to find new ways to rip it apart more.

Actually, I just assumed that when EDI said 'take the shuttle to your next mission' that I would be able to select my next mission and go, via the shuttle. And I suppose Bioware initially had that thought too, given Miranda's dialogue. Not sure why it was changed, since they could have let you select and complete a mission, and then continued into the next sequence, immediately after you completed your mission, and were presumably in transit back to the Normandy Sort of a 'meanwhile back at the ranch...'

See I never let this get to me. You talk to any party member and they act like they're always a part of what's going on, even if you've never had them in your party once. I just picture them coming along for every mission, you only get to use two of them.

Same with Dragon Age, why are these people tagging along talking about making history when they sit around a campfire the entire time. Just suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride.

I think we're all mislabeling this as a plot hole. Technically, it's logically consistent to the story. However, what we're all really trying to say is that our Shep's never would've done that. To me, this is actually far more important a point than a plot hole anyway. Having your Shep suddenly do something in the middle of the game that is contrary to the player's expectations and direction, well, results in players saying WTF!

It would have made so much more sense to just have a small "the Illusive man/whoever would like you to go to X to doY" mission specifically set up just for that scene.

As for any team members left on the ship, well there are areas they could have been locked down into such as Mirandas office, the observation areas, etc. after showing team members moving around the ship in cutscenes similar to the ones they already had for that point, with the doors (all incredibly thick ones, if Mirandas office door is anything to go by, which even Jack would have problems blasting through or Tali hacking through) locking down as the Collector ship arrives.

This isn't the only or best idea, but just to illustrate that there were other ways it could have been done.

Bioware: Assuming direct control!

I am a fan of bioware's work, but that felt rather... Ridiculous. Did they screw themselves with the whole choice thing? Or did they simply not have the time and budget to properly implement the vision of Mass effect?

What I dont get is... Why didnt they go to the Citadel and wait in orbit around it while they install it... It seems like an obvious choice..

"hey were going to install some very dangerous Tech, lets go orbit the Citadel so we have protection and such while we install it"

Why would the Citadel protect a Cerberus ship, exactly?

That's the funny thing. I was at the Citadel when this event occurred. The Collector's apparently ambushed the Normandy when it was right next to the Citadel.

And yeah, I still don't understand why this happened. First time it occurred I was so horribly confused that I thought the game had glitched and loaded a different part of the game.

I don't think they would ignore the massive, unidentified space ship that has suddenly appeared out of nowhere, regardless of who it is attacking.

because if you havent noticed Shepard is the commander of said ship... and He is still a spectre (you get spectre status reinstated/He never Realy lost it)

I love Bioware but...yeah.

Agreed. This and the whole back from the dead cliche are the only 2 things in the writing of this game that truely strikes me as bad and lazy. At least Shep did not have amnesia as well. That would have fromed a nice little RPG cliche trifecta.

How do you think they are going to begin ME3? Amnesia, duh....

A large orgy to break the ice completely with his team members perhaps, Shepard is devious like that.

The thing that struck me as ridiculous was seeing the ENTIRE team take the scuttle that only has space for about 4 people + a pilot. What happened to picking your squadmates before getting on to the scuttle and leave the majority of the team behind. Damn plotwizards!

/sigh

yes the sudden leaving to go nowhere was absolutely idiotic....**** writing...poorly executed...and stupid just for plots sake

however...learn to ****ing read...that thing they call the codex

the shuttle has enough room for everyone on your team PLUS a pilot.

Was no one paying attention to what EDI says after you destroy the derelect Reaper? She could not anticipate how Reaper techology would react when installed into the Normandy's systems. So as a precautionary move all essential personel were evacuated from the ship. Not sure how people claim this to be a plot hole as it should be common sense.

Its idiotic that they test and install it on the normandy first....

Because he's Commander mother****ing Shepard! If he wants to take the whole team on the shuttle, he can ****ing take the whole team on the shuttle. Seriously though, EDI said essential personnel should leave the ship during the test and I would count the people leading the suicide mission as essential personnel.

Collectors have never been in Citadel space, and are unlikely to be. Relay IFF activates is not in the Widow.

Sorry, fail.
