Yeah, it's a pretty great card. My dad got it for me on my 18th birthday, and I've always been happy with it. The only weird thing is that the overclocking has historically been a **** sketch... though I haven't tried it with the new drivers...

ive built plenty of computers but ive never tested seek times on hard drives first hand.. ive done reading... but curious about any first hand accounts...
 
im looking at getting an AMD quad core with 4 gigs memory and a 5770ati with a SSD boot i guess trying to keep cost under a grand...

I'm running an AMD X4 955, 4GB DDR3 1600, HD 4850 (Maybe ~10% slower on average than a 5770), and SSD boot drive. It's insanity. Everything opens ridiculously fast.

thats why i was after computer parts in this contest....
any one of the items would cut my project cost enough to upgrade another section...


im also debating getting parts seperate or going with a prebuilt from one of those custom shops u see in computer mags... 

price seems close, and the warranty makes me happy....
i mean i used to build computers for extra cash for guys in the barracks in germany.. but prices on pre builts seem to have stabalized...

I built my new comp in january for about $600 (reused video card, PSU, and spent ~$200 on a new 23" monitor). So unless nothing is reusable you should be able to make it work.

im turning old pc into a flie server for streaming and storage.. so reuse is limited... maybe video card.. but it has geforces in sli in it and im convinced to go ati... and the 8900 gts in it are almost obsolete for gaming

Yeah, my card is almost identical and it can max out 99% of games with ease (The most recent being Just Cause 2). Although as soon as the GTX 470 attains reasonable price and availability I'm going to snag one (might have to wait, got to get new bike first).
