I got the Oblivion GOY edition as a gift, but never even loaded it. Is it worth playing?
Emphatically yes... although I have NEVER done the main quest, I do everything else... the world is huge and I love exploring and finding new things (If you played Fallout 3 you know how big Bethesda makes there games... I'm pretty sure oblivion is bigger, but I can't remember)
runs fine on vista 64 as well. speaking of running, I noticed DAO actually does utilize quad cores.....and still renders on the cpu like a fatcat in a chicken coop. when are they going to get it all onboard the graphics card?
And I'll need to get a patch for it to avoid memory issues? I'm running WIn 7x64.
Just get the unofficial patch from tesnexus, it fixes most of the bugs. I can assure you it works fine on Win 7 HP X64, as that's what I run.

And it turns out I was the bad guy the whole time. Sorry for sniping I just really want to go back to sleep.
It's understandable, glad you finally won. Now there's only a few of us left who need to win.

It's the GOY edition my B.I.L. has though.
I love sandbox games because I love to explore - I wouldn't be an rpg player if that wasn't the case. So my hesitance has nothing to do with thinking I won't like it. I know I will. I'm just unprepared to spend a long time playing a game right now.
I don't normally mind though - my longest running character for ME1 has about 140+ hours career length for example, and I have other characters (I'm building different choices for another import to ME2, though I already completed it with my main character. But this was spread out over the time since the release of the platinum edition of ME1. So yeah I don't mind putting lots of time into a game.
I'm just hesitant about starting a new game when I'm not quite done with the rest I have and when it's one I know will eat up all my time
