*hmmm* We're both 17". Would the number of HDDs cause the weight/size difference? Compared to my old Dell Latitude I had for work prior (that basically died) was a ton smaller and lighter. The brand on mine is Sager, not sure what the model is.

Excessive heatsinks/heatpipes can add to the weight significantly.

Nah $999 is the normal price at Best Buy. Not a sale. I got this back in Feb and the price is still the same.

Gotcha. The machine does run very hot; there are 4 circular fan vents on the bottom of the machine, so that could be it.
