*hmmm*  We're both 17".  Would the number of HDDs cause the weight/size difference?  Compared to my old Dell Latitude I had for work prior (that basically died) was a ton smaller and lighter.  The brand on mine is Sager, not sure what the model is.

Excessive heatsinks/heatpipes can add to the weight significantly.

Gotcha.  The machine does run very hot; there are 4 circular fan vents on the bottom of the machine, so that could be it.

Just don't try putting it on ur lap lol.

I actually had to do that at one point in a meeting; the heat wasn't necessarily an issue, it's awkward and very unwieldy compared with the old Latitudes.  But it's also a fair bit faster than the old computer, so that's been making up for the PITA-portability/battery life issue.
