I've seen it before, which makes me wonder: if the high bidder is worried about getting sniped why not throw everything into it?  I suppose if they actually have enough to win two things I could understand, but that would take about 20,000, so I'm pretty sure most people would be better of bidding it all and hoping for the best instead of trying to hold back and get beat.

Odds are they just disappear.  The nice thing would be if we could apply those toward a future purchase, like say DLC or something.  Then people could at least save a few bucks even if they didn't win, so it wouldn't be a total waste but they are really just tied to the contest and it would probably be more trouble than it was worth to have tokens carry over to future purchases.

I think it would be cool to win and have some tokens left over. But it's all about deciet, post some of your coins, then 10 seconds until it ends bid most or all of them.

Expensive is not always better. Taxes also needs to be taken into consideration.
