Nope, according to contest rules, if he's ineligible, the next highest bidder will get it.

That's the only thing that gave me pause on the next highest bidder thing, but as the bid was appropriate, I suspect that's what happened. They did set strict start and end times pre-contest so it makes sense >_< .   Wishful thinking on my part I suppose.
