That would be ideal, but that's not how these auctions actually work. You benefit more by waiting till the last minute.
Happened on the the last two auctions too.

So to prevent my bid from being sniped, all I can really do is set myself up to snipe myself.
Arg, all I want is a poster pack at this point.

How so?

Person A has 10200 tokens
Person B has 9800 tokens
Person C has 8000 tokens

Situation 1:
Person C bids 8000 tokens.

*Persons A and B wait until the last second*
A and B both throw all their tokens in!
A wins.

Situation 2:
Person C bids 8000 tokens.
Person B bids 9800 tokens.
Person A bids 10200 tokens.

Person A wins 15 minutes later.

Same outcome.

The only way it turns out different is if A tries to win with under 10000 tokens (saving 200 or so). Which is... silly.

not realy if person D with 12000 tokens wants the same item and bids 10000 and then person a snipes him

And again, that's totally silly. That only works if Person D is realllllly overly optimitic thinking they'll be able to win a second item with their remaining tokens and whatever they can scrounge up.

But that's never going to happen with hundreds or thousands of people with over 8000 tokens.

The HD winner here sniped him/herself.
