What would be cool as a consolation prize would be if Bioware converted every 1,000 points to 10 Bioware points/microsoft points/PSN whatever equivalent so that we could at least feel like it wasn't a total waste. 10k tokens would = 100 Bioware Points. Not too shabby towards a DLC, and virtually no loss to Bioware (since 100 points is like 2-3 dollars)

$3 reparations for 100 megatons of nerd rage is punitive and excessive.

100 points is actually like a buck and change.

BioWare points follow the same scheme as Microsoft points. 80 points is 1 dollar.

Man, I was excited about this promotion. First day of the auction, and I'm not anymore. I cry foul. Goddamn robots and their click abuse. I may as well not bother now, with around 7k I have no chance of winning anything.

I think this sums up abotu how we're all feeling. I was excited b/c I thought I'd actually win something for once, but not anymore.  I'm still hoping though.  Hopefully during the late hours and later in the week all the 10k people will have been weeded out.  I hope...

So it is a dollar and change... Punitive maybe, but excessive not really. Store coupons with other companies offer larger discounts... it's all just incentive to purchase products in the future. No one with a respectable amount of points would not spend them, and everyone else wouldn't be able to make enough to even get the cheapest DLC completely free.

It would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.  This whole promotion stinks of Fail.

Having them convert at this point would be pointless for me. I have all the DLC for PC Dragon Age. All the DLC for 360 ME2 (and enough points currently for the Kasumi pack) So I'd have Bioware points just sitting there for months until some new DA content drops.

It probably could have been better, but at least I was literate and didn't rant and rave and call for a boycott like some people sometimes do.

Dr.,

First let me start by saying I love you guys, and the work that you do. Mass Effect and Dragon Age are both in my all-time best games list. Not far off is Baldur's Gate and Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic as well. You guys make some of the best RPGs in existence.

That being said, I must express my sincere disappointment at this supposed "auction". I realize you guys didn't have to do this, and you had hoped it would be something for the community, but if you take a moment to browse through the forums here on the BioWare site, as well as many other forums, You will find a quite unhappy fan-base.

Within 10 seconds of an item going up for auction, it is at/near/surpassing 10,000 tokens with less than 10 people having bid. It would seem that the vast majority of your community has far less than this amount of points and can only sit by and watch as the seemingly same few people duke it out over 10,000 tokens.

I personally dislike social networks such as MySpace and Facebook and Twitter. In fact the only reason I made a Twitter account was to participate in the challenges for these auctions (I won once at the very beginning). Therefore, because I refuse to use social networks, I have hindered myself by not 'spamming' my referral link all over the net and instead reserved it for the two forums I read. This severely limits my point gaining ability and I know I am not the only one in this situation. I have (at the time of this message) 7,320 tokens, and there are a large number of folks who have even less than that. Are we simply out of luck? Do we just get to sit and look at the impressive items go up for auction for over 10,000 tokens and frown with disappointment?

I heard about the numerous situations involving work-arounds or exploits that some individuals used to falsely generate link clicks, In many cases garnering them upwards of 20,000 tokens. I also read that they had their tokens reset this morning. Is that really as far as it went? They blatantly cheated, many of them announcing it right here on the BioWare forums. Then after being informed they were being reset, they called foul and cried unfair? I for one would not have been as merciful, and I'm quite sure  others would not have been as well. The cheaters should have been banned from participation all-together. They cheated, why do they deserve to participate?

I will not boycott your games, or anything along those extreme lines, I love your games, and this auction doesn't lessen my enjoyment of them. What it does do, is severely disappoint me to the point of no longer caring for community events such as this. I keep watching the new auctions go up every 15 minutes, just on the off chance that maybe, just maybe it won't rocket past 10,000 in a few short seconds, but I know full well it will.

Again, do not feel that you have lost a customer, you haven't. But you have gained a very disappointed one.

Amen, brother, Amen.

It does kind of suck, but hopefully things will work out closer to the end. In the mean time, I'm clicking as many links as possible to help people out.

This is exactly what I was just thinking.  It would be great if for those of us who went through all the trouble only to lose out by the end of the auction, at least get something for our efforts.  A conversion to Bioware points would be a magical solution....

That said, the "exploiters" would exploit further. Even if they'd end the ability to gain tokens, they'd really have a hard time weeding out who was honest about their gain, and who wasn't.

There are some people who could have realistically obtained the 500 max per day, for the past 9 days.  50 Loyal friends willing to click a link in a forum, once a day to help a "superfan" out.  That alone is 4,500 Tokens.  With the base (non Url) token amount being established as 5,950.  That brings a "best case scenario" total to 10,450. (Without winning any challenges)

So realize that -some- of those 10K'ers out there, arne't cheaters. They either have a better side forum of friends, or managed to get lucky and actually win one of the challenges (still haven't won one myself).

Things have already calmed down since this morning.  Yes it can still be a bit disapointing that a bundle of 5 items and a single shirt are still going for the same mount. But this is an Auction.  It's how these things work.  And the fact that the max bid right now for an item is 8k? Gives hope that it will all equal out by the end.

Edit: And I've been doing the same, clinking every link in a sig I find. Someone mentioned a whole thread for that? Where is so I can keep helping out the others.

P.S. Crab your link has an extra http in it... it doesn't redirect properly.. I fixed it for my click but you may wanna adjust that if you want more points! Cheers!

It is a fairly absurd auction at this point. Here's hoping it calms down.

No, but not being able to participate, AT ALL, in this 'community' event makes me not care if they just dissolve.

I understand. :( It's unfortunate really. If they had just done single auctions things would be very different.

I honestly doubt that since the N7 Hoody, went for more than the entire N7 package.

Seems like a fluke... the hoody went for more than the Graphics card... seems like someone with the desire to win went all out on a stupid prize to me.

I'm not sure why people keep bidding like they do, it just makes no sense, and it seems that nobody like me will win anything with the low number of points we have...ah well, I will still keep watching, just in case...

All I wanted was a hoodie, I automatically figured I'd not get any of the bigger prizes. I won't really get anything now. There's no way to catch up to those with 10k, they will increase their lead. When you think about it, there will be more than enough people who have got 10k or above, through legit or other means to cover every auction of every day.

Yeah, it is beginning to look that way, and it is frustrating, as there is no real way for some of use to get that high, I mean I have done everything offered to get points here, and only have 6030 (only have 80 points from referrals...lol

Gave you 10 more lol, but I feel your pain. I have 7300 and they'll just sit there unused. There's supposed to be  412 auctions and I'm pretty damn well sure theres over 412 people that have more than 10k tokens. We're just SoL.

Not really considering the way things had been going.  I've already looked through the list and decided the one thing that I know that I want and so when it comes up, i'm just going for it with all I have.  i'm sure many are doing the same thing.  Just pick one swag and put all your M&M's in it.

Or is that, grapes in a basket?
Renegades in your Paragon?

Why does it have to be referrals to get all the points anyways? Couldn't people just have purchased multiple copies of games and registered them for extra points?
