Why does it have to be referrals to get all the points anyways? Couldn't people just have purchased multiple copies of games and registered them for extra points?

No, it was an either/or situation.

Register your copy of Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins -
Awakening, or Mass Effect 2 on social.bioware.com
and receive tokens.

  • Dragon Age: Origins = 1200 Tokens
  • Mass Effect 2 = 1500 Tokens
  • Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening = 1750
    Tokens

Well, I am officially throwing in the towel. I was really excited about this at first; I figured I wouldn't have many points, even though I purchased 2 of the 3 games, and might end up with some cheap thing, like a t-shirt or something, but the chance of that is now ZERO. I'm not pissed at BioWare for doing this; I can forgive them for messing up the auction, but I am pissed that they and the cheaters have wasted my time. Sorry, that I can't really forgive.

[*]How is that an either/or situation? If you bought ME2 for the 360 and for the PC couldn't you register both copies?

No, I think that was in the FAQ for the contest, you could only register 1 copy of the game, no matter the system.

That is why they stated "No Purchase Necessary". I haven't gotten Awakening yet due to time and money. But I could still get the points by answering the questionnaire.

Your logic eludes me. Sure you can't fill out the questionnaire 100 times, but that doesn't mean that you cant still register actual copies of the game.

Well I didn't expect to win anything because I didn't win any of the challenges. The only thing I have a problem with is that referral links were the only thing that was needed to win.

I registered my actual copies and could not choose to do the questionnaire. It was a one or the other situation with those. either you did the questionnaire, or you registered the game, not both,

You could still register a copy, but you couldn't double up on points by doing the questionnaire and then registering, or vice versa.

Good luck to everyone trying to win something. Keep your head up, there's still more days, auctions and tokens to be earned. You never know how it'll turn out.

Eternally optimistic is a good attitude!

We know how it will end, all the cheaters will win the auctions and Bioware loses some of our respect over this spectacularly retarded stunt.

No doubt that the execution of the Bazaar leaves much to be desired and really put many of us in a terrible mood.

Meh, I've given up hope on winning anything, now I just try to even get a bid in before it hits 9k. Hopefully I'll get a reply from Dr. Muzyka, but I honestly don't think I will.

Most bids I've seen on refresh between auctions have gone straight to 9k+ tokens. I'm wondering if there's even a point to checking it.

It was a well spoken note to be sure, but you're probably right in that he wont.

Every publisher, every site takes a stab at a contest one day or another and the internet will always rise up and complain. Nobody can ever invent something that will allow the entire internet to be happy with glee insteal of curse with flames.

The tone on the forums have already changed drastically since the first few auction items this morning.  The flames have mostly cleared and everyone just has this "oh well" mentality.  There was (just as there always is) too high of a hope from the fan base that "this time will be different".

So it doens't work out. Not everyone was going to be a winner in the first place and despite the troubles regarding any "exploiters" the system is still working relatively fine.

There's only so much prep work that can be done on contests, and considering that they had to limit it to the 50 states of the US, there could very easily been much more at work here that prevented all these different rules and "additional means of earning tokens" that were established.

Dr. Muzyka could have had very  little to do with the actual fine print logistics of this in the first place.

But it's all just personal speculation.  All I know is that i've been clicking any link I see in the forums to help those without 50+ click happy friends and wishing the best of luck.

Oh I highly doubt he had anything to do with the contest. However, I feel he should know/be aware of the downtrodden mass that is the fanbase. In some respects, I think the "Oh well, I give up" crowd will have a more potent effect than the "jump on the flame wagon" crowd does. You can easily dismiss angry fanboys that just spam flames, but wading through post after post of people who have given up and "just don't care" anymore, should have much more of an impact on someone.

And believe me, I know that not everyone could be a winner, but when you consider 90+% of the community that would have liked to participate in this event are not able to because of the same dozen or so people topping the bid charts, it's a bit ridiculous. Theoretically there could be a total of 206 winners if each of them got 2 victories. But again thats beside the point. In the US alone they have thousands upon thousands of fans, most of which are probably (wishing) they could participate in this event, but due to a skewed token earning system (the unique referral crap), most of them are just totally screwed.
