i agree, the url clicking changed this awesome idea into something bad. it was supposed to be for us loyal fans that supported bioware and to celebrate 15 years. now anyone who has a large social network or is good at just going to sites and sending out mass links. or some people who are clever and fool the system by making there ip address change can win. they should of done things like trivia and stuff to give tokens. put a 500 point cap on the url click. very flawed system and now bioware has a huge amount of disappointed fans.

now if they notice the small amount of people that have acutly bid on each auction that should say something as well sence most auctione have less then 10 people acutly bidding anf those with more ahve the same couple of people acutly doing what you would in an action so that gets even worse. so if this trend stays up its going to be hectic and i wouldnt be surprised if some people try to sue them over this.

That lawsuit would fail before it took off, they couldn't sue over something they voluntarily participated in when the rules have been expressly stated. It doesn't state anywhere that you're guaranteed to be able to bid. Yes it does suck, and horribly so, but we have no legal recourse.

Anyway, I mentioned the fact that most/all of these auctions have 10 bidders or less, in my letter to Ray Muzyka.

It is rather sad to only see a small bid history with everyone item going instantly to 9-10k or more.

Also very disappointed by this auction. I put a lot of effort into getting referrals, and I'm not even at 8k yet. The character creator wouldn't allow me to log in to upload my results, but even then 8k isn't even sufficient to get a chance at any of the items so far.

I'm surprised the guys at Bioware didn't see this coming. If you give people an avenue to exploit a system, they will. The reality is the true fans here (that don't know how to exploit or don't view it as morally correct) have gotten the shaft. Sorry guys, I feel your pain. :(

Man I'm still at about 6k tokens. I hope people with tons will be done in the last items.

I'm not disappointed. Hey, it's free anyways.

i figured it out. some people had to use some other means. if you did all of the basic things and got the 500 url click points since it started you would have 10450. if you win some challenges you could get more. but come on. there have been bids of 11000 and higher. i will be most of the auctions the ending bid was even higher than the 10450. the first pc went for 16000 points or so. that means they had to get 5500 extra url clicks in 8 days? at 1 point per click. am i the only one that thinks that seems basicly impossible to do in any sort of honest manner. this system is definatly flawed.

Well technically if someone was to win every challenge that's 12k tokens right there.  Not saying it happened or what not.  Just that its possible

In my opinion, the only time a referral rewards system should be allowed is when there is a gateway preventing abuse. For example, Riot Games offer a referral program with rewards to League of Legends fans. The catch is, not only do referrals have to click the link and register, but they also have to rank up to level 10 first which takes some effort. It'd be similar to requiring registration on Bioware's social followed by successful game registrations.

Since it's just a link scheme, the abuse potential was through the roof. I'm sure a small number of people with 10k+ are legit, but the rest had to have abused the linking system somehow. I mean, the only legit people out there in my mind that could have gotten mass referrals to reach 16k would be the owners / writers / editors of very large game related websites.

Hm... After hours of trying, I managed to get bids in for 2 things I really wanted, so it's not a *complete* loss in my book. If I managed to have the bid up for more than a half-second, I'd be happier, but it's an auction, so I figure it comes with the ride I signed the ticket to get a chance at.

I figure it's life, and file accordingly. No skin lost here. Certainly not winning is disappointing, and not getting a chance more so, but perseverance seems to pay out in the long run... or at least it does in my experience.

well in response to the person that said if they had won every challenge i will say this. i played every challenge and i have won 2. out of all posts i have read the most i have seen anyone say they won is 2. so the chances that the one person got them all is like a half percentage point. and to be more clear. the one example i used that person needed to have 792 other clicks each day since this thing started. how likely does that seem? i have come to the conclusion that this whole bazaar thing really wasnt about doing something for the fans. it was made to get free advertising done. because thats all the url links are is advertising. and that is sad that they would use there loyal fans that have helped build there company like that instead of actualy doing something just to show there appreciation.

Highest that Bioware said anyone won on the twitter thing was 6 or 7 of them.

I'm honest to God glad I'm not the only one who feels like he has been raped. All I wanted is a Mass Effect T-shirt and sitting with 5470, I probably won;t get squat.

However, half of me hopes by the ends of the auction, all these idiots with 10,000+ will expned their tokens and let us have a go at actually bidding.

The whole entire "Click Individual Link" Thing is the most broken and abused part of this damn thing.

another sad thing though is the way they are bundling everything. i dont think they will have enough auctions to go threw till saturday. unless they add more items. at the 412 items there was enough to have 1 item per auction and that would of gone threw till saturday. but they are putting sometimes like 7 items in one auction. i dont think it will go past thursday.

I'm wondering if what they are _really_ looking for are truly talented spammers, to be recruited to the EA Marketing Department.  'Cause it's the referrals that get people to that magic 9K+ level of tokens required to win anything in the auction.  Straightforward game registration, social network sign-up, and Character Creator download will get you to @6K, which ain't gonna get you squat.  You, alone, aren't worth a thing to BW/EA, apparently.  You only have value if you can rope in a LOT of other people that eventually goes onto the EA mailing list.

Whatever ever happened to the stereotype of the reclusive gamer, locked into his world of games, removed from society at large?  Now it seems he has to be ultra-connected with a vast network of Friends at TWITter and FacePalm, er, Facebook.

It should have been limited to a TOTAL of 500 points per day. not 500 at first and then 1 point for each click after.

It really shouldn't have been used at all, imo.

You make a very valid point. i am simply going off of what the rules state at this moment. But to be honest, I feel cheated especially since those computers went to these spammers.

Hear hear!  I thought I had a chance for at least a measly Mass Effect CD, or failing that, a mousepad.  Now it looks like both will go for as much as a bid for a new PC.

ya who would of thought that an auction for the fans would need to be won by having to spam people and hustle it.
