I'm just sitting here laughing at these people who blow their whole load of tokens in the first minute. Anyone else think it's ridiculous? Either way I'll never win anything with these numbers.

That's the way to win something. I would bet there are enough tokens in play for almost everything to go for over 10,000 tokens. If you don't go in with that much, you don't win. If you leave a little left over for yourself, you have a tiny number of tokens that will do you zero good.

Of course everybody wants the really nice things, but you have a lower chance of winning those. Some free stuff is better than no free stuff.

Well, considering the Lithographs are over 10,000 tokens already I don't think its a matter of people throwing points at only 'nice' stuff. People are throwing points at every single auciton hoping to win - and every single ending bid has been well over 10,000 tokens.

It may seem like it will wane, but it won't. There are quite a few people who use the site, and quite a few who used the token system loopholes to obtain ridiculous amounts of tokens. Even with only 2 auction wins allowed it means that people with low token amounts probably will win absolutely nothing in the end.

This blows, I was really looking forward to getting something. guess my 6k is not nearly enough to be able to get something.

Yes, but if you can win using fewer tokens, why wouldn't you try to do that? There's always the possiblility that there'll be some item that no one's really paying attention to and goes for crazy low.

Yes, but judging by the way the auctions are currently going, I doubt anything will go for anything under 6K points.

"Nice" is in the eye of the beholder, though. The diehard BioWare fanboy may already have most of the games or a good PC, so why not bid for something that would look good on your wall? Or some DA:O branded condoms?

i LOVE the fact that people are 1 upping themselves in the auction. its as fail as doubleposting.

rage9345: current bid: 9932

next bid: rage9345: 9952

It would be easier for people that don't browser hack to win if it wasn't just one item up for auction at a time.

Did you check the timing of the bids? A lot of people will increase their bid in the last 5-10 seconds or so shut out the peeps who try to sneak in that final +10 bid two seconds before the auction is finished. Can't fault them for it.

Yes, it's stupid. It creates all-or-nothing situations where most folks don't even have breathing room in the bids. No strategy whatsoever. And it means that those with 8k or so can't even participate in the game.

It's just like life, people! Don't blow your wad all at once. The right time to blow it will come.

Yep. Plus we are only making things worse by having threads full of url referrals. People can easily lie and say they have less than 9000 and just keep pumping their total up. I haven't even been able to bid yet. This is most likely do to our self-inflicted token inflation.

You can only win 2 items according to rules. Not much point holding back. If you want something, bid it all. Either someone else has more, and will overtake. Or they won't and you win. Either way you gave it your best shot. Better then trying to cheapskate and get sniped in the last 30 seconds.

There are better ways of doing this, especially if you're bidding against someone you think has more tokens. But the way people are tossing their whole load right from the start, this is barely even an auction. It's over in a matter of minutes most times, except for those who know what they're doing and actually wait until the auction is ending to jump in and bid.

Yah people are blowing their tokens on one item, even though the rules say you can get up to 2 items.

I also managed to have a decent bidding war. At 2am. During the day, like right now, all the bids are jacked up by the token happy players. Compare the amounts on the winning bids from late last night to this afternoon. It's all there in past bids.

This bidding is different than like an eBay auction so it works differently. Since most people can only get 1 item, and the rest of their tokens would be useless, they might as well bid everything they have, and with the number of people watching the auction, there is really no point in sniping, might as well just bid all you have and go do something else.

Thats because they just want to get the item straight out. most people are happy just winning SOMETHING so they bid everything and hope no one else wants it

Then don't call it an auction. Look, I totally agree with your, and other people's, statement. I just don't think it's even fun for anyone. Within a few seconds the highest bidder is already established.
