This auction was a cool thing for bioware to do, but it is broken and rife with cheating.

Everyone knows exactly what I am talking about. People have obviously found a way to cheat the system using proxies, bots or whatever and every auction is going for 10K+ tokens.

Anyone who plays fair has no hope of winning anything. It's a shame.

On top of that, my profile is not updating my number of tokens even from people legitimately clicking on my link.

Agreed, am greatly disappointed and after I was all excited this was starting on my birthday (yay April 6th!) but the whole credits for people clicking your link thing broke it

Bet you a click that people made programs to scan proxy lists and get themselves hundreds of clicks. Bioware should have seen this coming. They should have had 500 max points from this, and no more. It would have been more of an auction if a lot of people had the same point amount. Make denominations of 50 or so, no higher, so that people cant abuse it. If there is a tie, they should have a random draw.

yeah this is disappointing, I have gotten 700 points through the referral system via social networks and friends. Im not sure how one can get 4000+ tokens through referral links only in so few days in a legit manner, unless of course they one 4+ challenges via the twitter challenges, which in of it self seems mind boggling since I've participated in all but a couple of the twitter challenges with 0 tokens rewarded.

I only have 2,700 Tokens. I have no chance at all of victory. I agree with the Bazaar Strategy needing work.

The exploits were brought to their attention the moment this Bazaar was announced. Multiple times. They allowed it to happen.

obviously normal people cant compete at all. all the bonus questions and referrals etc is just some lame time killer for tech geeks, and apparently the only way to be able to bid on anything.

imo, this whole thing is ridiculous. extremely poor execution, bioware.

I totally agree. I own 2 of the games, and I'm stuck at 3700 points. There's ZERO chance of me winning anything on this "auction." It should have been a raffle instead, so other people can have a chance of winning. I'm disappointed and sad.

As with most companies, BioWare just doesn't really care if the little people get screwed; it's not like we can do jack sh$t about it.

Glad to see buying every bioware game made really is paying off... right?

Yeah, if you don't have more than 10k (close to 11k), you're probably not going to win anything. I have almost 10k, and I've been losing all day.

imo, this was just a move to try to weasel people into buying the new expansion. it offered the most points but was the cheapest of all their products?

at least i got it for 20 bucks.

Can a moderator come forward with how you can get 10k+ points fairly? Based on my math, I'd need to have 2500+ friends to get to 10K. (4450 games, 1000 social, 500x4 days 2000 = 7450).

A buddy had amassed 7k points and was really hoping to get one of the PC's. I was checking the auction for him today and couldn't believe it when the first PC went for 16k+. I own all the games and had almost 6k tokens myself. Thought I could maybe get a t-shirt or flash drive. Guess that's not gonna happen. What a letdown.

They should at least address the community.

Mass Effect 2 Questionnaire 1500

Dragon Age: Origins - Character Creator Upload 500

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Questionnaire 1750

Dragon Age: Origins Questionnaire 1200

Social Membership 1000

Adds up to 5950. Add 500 points for referrals (50 clicks * 10 per click) per day for 9 days, and there you go. Difficult, but doable. Challenges make it easier.

Yes, I won another contest. Still barely enough to compete with the spammers sigh. They should hold some items off for people with true points.

I posted this in another thread:

There are some people who could have realistically obtained the 500 max
per day, for the past 9 days.  50 Loyal friends willing to click a link
in a forum, once a day to help a "superfan" out.  That alone is 4,500
Tokens.  With the base (non Url) token amount being established as
5,950.  That brings a "best case scenario" total to 10,450. (Without
winning any challenges)

Breaking it down:
(Either by registering yoru game or doing the quetionnaire:
  • Dragon Age: Origins = 1200 Tokens
  • Mass Effect 2 = 1500 Tokens
  • Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening = 1750
    Tokens
Social Membership = 1000 Tokens
CharacterCreation = 500 Tokens
= 5,950 Tokens

Agree completely with the OP. There is no way that someone could get 16,000 tokens any legit way. Even with buying every game, getting a Chris' Challenge, and posting my social link on Twitter and Facebook once a day, I only have 7500 tokens. I have a slim hope that after the auctions, there will be another way we can use our tokens. There is no way I'll get anything, even a sticker, for 7500 tokens.

--Edit, plus nothing is more annoying that posting inside of the Bioware forums to click the link.  They should have blocked any tokens from links inside of the Bioware forums.  The point was to advertise for Bioware to people who don't own the games, not the people who already bought all the games.

Edit as this was covered in a previous post done while I was writing.  Basically, 10K+ can be done fairly easily without cheating.  Just takes luck, diligence and/or popularity.

I disagree (gee you think bc of my sig?)  I feel like the "click n rally" that has been the gut reaction to the initial day of auction has been very community driven.

People have realized that there was more effort that needed to be put into it than initially thought and so everyone is helping everyone else.  For a lot of people, this -is- their social forum.  Telling them they can't have their peers help them out just because its Biwoare is a bit much.

Naitivity on our parts? Perhaps. yes the rules have been out there since day one, and yes people knew there would be exploits.  But some people just had the pretty hope that things would somehow be a bit more balanced.  Nothing wrong with people having had higher hopes for their tokens.
