This auction was a cool thing for bioware to do, but it is broken and rife with cheating.

I really hope BioWare comes out and says something about this, a lot of their faithful customers are getting screwed over by this setup. I don't have the time nor the knowledge to viral market BioWare for them, but I've bought every BioWare game since NWN. So apparently making money is more important to BioWare than rewarding its customers, since neither I nor anyone else like me has a chance of winning anything.

well ive posted before on other blogs. to me the referrel part of it should not of been done. this auction was supposed to be to celebrate 15 years of bioware so it was for the loyal fans. the referrel basicly turned it into just being popular on social sites or threw means of deception. i like to hope maybe bioware is reading all the negative reaction that us loyal fans and customers are having because of it. and will halt the current auction and rethink it or redo it. but i doubt it. my only hope is if they run this auction all threw the night that i might get something at like 3 in the morning.

We should not have to lose sleep to win. That's nuts. How are we supposed to handle that, especially working people? I hope BioWare doesn't think we're all Basement Zombies.

I'm still clicking people's links in their sigs and on other boards. Just keep doing whatever you've been doing to help each other out legitimately. It sucks that people exploited the system, or have popular websites that could generate hundreds of unique clicks per day or whatever.

Really, there's nothing we can do about them. With some luck (optimistically speaking) these high bids will get scaled back a bit and give others a chance to score something sweet.

I've been going around clicking peoples clickies in any thread I see or sigs. Its hard work but its not worth cheating to get thousands of tokens in my oppinion. Really do wish it didn't have the unigue click thing. So then it would be more like a real auction possibly.  social.bioware.com/brc/82191   Click if you wanna help a fellow loyal fan out.

So I don't have a twitter account, and my friends don't click spam facebook links (like the ref link), so at 5000 something points I have no way of winning anything, great. Every single item is up to 9k in like 20 seconds, my net connection isn't even that fast, and I've been here for like 4 hours trying to get even a bid in, not even win something, just getting a bid to accept before I don't have enough points. Luckily your games are good Bioware, so that is something I can retreat into to drown my sorrows of not being even a contender in the auction despite playing by the rules.

As with most companies, BioWare just doesn't really care if the little people get screwed; it's not like we can do jack sh$t about it.

Not too happy about this auction and how it came down to an internet popularity contest, but i would have to disagree with you. Bioware has done a pretty damn good job of making me get the most of my games, whether it be DLC that is low priced/ free or other things. theyve also listened to fans that try to influence the next game. Most game developers lack this.

click sig plz.

Sounds more and more like work and chores than something fun and exciting to compete in. Maybe Bioware should start paying everyone for all the work they are putting into the advertising they are doing. :)

Based on the rules, exploiting them or not, it is possible to get high numbers. Now, 14k or 16k might be too high, but still... And since you get 1 token for each click beyond 50, it is possible to continually collect tokens. That being said, helping each other out by clicking could be ill-advised. You are just creating more competition for each auction.

I'm sure there was some kind of calculating of point values for the games, and the social and character creator points are irrelevant since everyone can get those. The challenge and auction points could use some work.

I think 1 point per click would've been better and a max of 50 clicks total. For 100 people, that could potentially be 5,000 users, and that's plenty for a 412 prize auction. Plus, if you didn't get that many, you wouldn't be at that great a disadvantage..

For the challenges, if 100 people can win then it should've only be 10 points per win. Otherwise, only a few people (or even just 1 person) should win the 500 points. Then it's either only a small boost or a special prize for an excellent answer.

In this way, the auction would be a lot closer. Also, the bid amount should've been limited to only +10 per bid period. Then it would've been more exciting. If the winning bid is made within the first minute, where's the fun?

Of course, none of this really matters. But hey, maybe they'll have a better method of doing things to celebrate 20 years.

Personally, I think it should have been each token you submit gives you a chance of winning, as opposed to just flat winning (so a raffle). That would at least give us regular, working folk a shot at some of these prizes. As it stands, I can't even win a poster.

And at the same time, BioWare wants us to prove they have the better community by voting for them against Valve in the Esacpist's March Madness bracket. A better community? They (BioWare) have alienated half of their community by making the Bazaar American-only, and then alienated another good chunk because the Bazaar is broken! *Facepalm*

Sorry, Valve got my vote.

This token system really is a joke. Bioware should stop it now and rescind all items won. Re-evaluate the token system and start over.

Yes, I have also bought every single game Bioware has ever put out, and on multiple platforms even, and bought two Mass Effect t shirts and both soundtracks from iTunes. Heck, I was one of the five or so people who started the Neverwinter Nights fanfic group on yahoogroups which has now ballooned to over 500 members. But I can see it's pretty pointless to hope to win even a poster for my gaming room. I agree with the raffle idea. Then we all get a chance.

I'd just like to have a chance with 5950 tokens. Most bids get up to 9000 by the second bid if not the first. I would've thought having all those games registered would give me a solid chance to win something as I didn't want to setup a twitter account just on the chance I'd get more points

I also agree. The simple fix would be to make tokens non-refundable. You bid with them, you lose them rather you win or lose the auction. Force people to try and bid low to keep as many tokens as possible for the next auction. This would create bid wars and competition, which would balance it out for everyone regardless of how many tokens they have.
