Hello,

I just checked my points. Wasn't expecting to win anything even if I had kept all of them, but it appears all the referrer points have gotten reset. Now this is kinda dubious 'cause I sure didn't get all of them from the image trick, but all the same all the points got reset. For the curious, I had around 7767, now down to 5950.

Anyone else in the same boat as me? Feel free to add your voice to others if you've been given the finger as I have.

-Mad Method

I got the vast majority of mine wiped, but I was guilty of the img trick (stopped when it was annouced that it was cheating), so no real complaints from me, seems strange that you'd get hit by it, maybe PM Chris? I think they were doing the resets manually b/c mine didn't get wiped till well after many other people had claimed theirs had been - so they could have made I mistake.

Look, I'm more of a discoursive person. I'd rather this thread was used to actually, y'know, discuss the practice, explain your feelings on the matter, how it affected you, etc.

It goes without saying that I found it a tad ridiculous that I was reset well beyond what I'd accrued through this mechanism. That's unfair. It's also unfair the way Bioware responded to the situation: A "hum we don't like it, but if you contribute to the forum, etc., we'll tolerate it" (Stanley Woo) -> "No, we're wiping your points" (Chris Priestly) answer. If Bioware gives a "Cheaters never prosper." type answer, I'll laugh, because they've redefined what constitutes cheating mid-contest at their leisure.

Cynicalsaint1, that's what I suspect and what bothers me - that it seems to me like my points got fully wiped just to make some kind of backwards statement. So what happened to you? They only removed part of the points?

Tell that to the New England Patriots.

Don't start that, no one knew it was cheating until after half the forum was doing it and it took 2-3 days for it to be declared cheating.

still theres tons of people out there with 10k+ tokens, which i think is a bit cheating regardless.

Nah, I think they're legit. (Except that 16,000 guy who won the first computer, WHO ARE YOU?!)

I'm close to being able to win a prize few people want, and I won a challenge, so I can see people who won 2 or 3 being top competitors.

I went from 15k+ down to a bit over 1k-ish (from referrals). I wouldn't be surprised if that was right though, because I really wasn't doing much legit linking while I still had my img tags up, and I didn't get many clicks between now and when they actually informed us that it was cheating. I've managed to work my way back up a bit since then, but its slow because I'm not spamming the whole internet or anything.

What irks me the most is they never bothered saying word one to us when we brought up concerns with how this was being handled. I don't mind losing the points, I just don't like how we were stonewalled when we asked about it.

I dunno if there all legit. Seeing as the most points come from buying there games. one would ahve literally spammed twitter to win many challenges or have a massive amount of clicks on those token links. Now personally, I think bioware should have known better then to allow there user base to spam various sites and forums.

Right, the second PC went to the person who started the pyramid scheme link sharing thread. If that's legit, Madoff should be freed from jail.

Meanwhile, you're not alone, Mad.

And then there's that guy that won 6 or 7 challenges, not sure what thread I saw that in.

So, your main complaint is that you had more tokens taken from you than the amount earned through cheating?

Think of the "extra" lost tokens as a penalty.

Gonna point out again, the poeple didn't know they were cheating until it was too late because it was only decided to be cheating 2-3 days after they asked about it.

They can't do that, against the law. Must be accurate punishments, complete disqualify (which isn't possible because Bioware gave you the means to do it) or cancel/restart the contest.

Otherwise it's discriminating.

I'm not complaining about my loss. The only complaint I have is that we weren't told for certain how the issue was being delt with. Most of the time I was just assuming that all my tokens would be wiped, so I really didn't bother trying to get legit clicks too hard after it was annouced that the img method was cheating.

I consider this issue like the law. Ignorance of the law is not a valid excuse to get out of trouble.

I'm not whining, I didn't even use the image trick, I just think it's a bit less black-and-white.

I'll point out, that we asked exactly what that law was, and it took two days for a response. World doesn't stop turning in the meantime.

But this argument has already happened once, I don't think there's a need to start it again, go dig up the old thread if you want.
