I believe it was some sig coding that counted anyone looking at your forum post as a click.
So working around that say doing this social.bioware.com/brc/222433 is ok then?

Yes, that's okay. Encouraged even.

Sol Veracity and Mad Method, take your bickering to private where it won't be off-topic for the thread. If you insist on keeping your argument here, this thread will be closed for being off-topic and spammy. This will be your only warning, Mad Method, since you'd convinced me to re-open this thread in the first place.
Forgive me, but isn't the off-topic section for off-topic threads?

So let it be known for sure: You *can* still win auctions if you lost a bunch of tokens from the reduction. I just did. =D

Wow really? You got reductions, Sherana?
Yeah, massive ones. I had 11k from referrals beforehand, about 2.3 afterwards.

I lost over 10k tokens I still managed to pick up the pack with ME1, two novels, and an art book, and Crixt might just win a computer or a laptop still. I'm disappointed about how this was handled, but losing your tokens because of the image trick isn't a hopeless situation.

Yep. And I'm more than happy to come out of it with a pair of new novels to read.

I need to see if I can still read. Wait, I'm posting on an internet forum, does that prove anything? No, no, I don't think it does.

Posting on an Internet forum isn't even proof of sapience, let alone literacy.

I've been working my way back up as well, went from like 21k to 7k
*Cues 'Like a Rolling Stone'*
Now almost back to being in the game, I'm really hoping I can get one of those t-shirt packs, I've been wanting some ME/DA shirts for a good while now.

I imagine so, but you'd better work fast at getting caught up. By the looks of it you would need around 10,000 points to be able to win an auction.Ranger115 wrote...
okay, can someone enlighten me please. if you have had a point reduction, are you able to build your points back up and STILL PARTICIPATE?
Here is the original thread that spread and explained it. (FYI: It doesn't work anymore.)tyvon wrote...
maybe im the village idiot but what is the exploit/what did it do?
Congratulations. If I may ask you, cynicalsaint, and crixt a question: You were all docked a number of referrer points but not all, right? And the number you were docked, it was arbitrary? (As in, more or less a stab in the dark at around how many points you must have accrued from the image trick.) Actually, was I the only one to have all my referrer points revoked?Sherana wrote...

Its hard for me to say, I'm not sure how many I was docked exactly other than it was 13-14k. Durning the time I was using the img tags, I wasn't really doing much to get my normal link clicked, nor was I last after Thursday when Chris made the announcement that it was considered cheating, because I was assuming I'd be completely DQ'd. I don't have the exact number of tokens I had before I started using the img trick, nor do I have what I had just before I was docked., hell I don't even have the exact amount that I had immediately after being docked.Mad Method wrote...

What I do know is I saw a thread stating that the token reductions had been handed out, and I still hadn't recieved my reduction. Mine didn't happen till maybe 15-30min before the auctions started, while others started seeing theirs reduced much earlier. This would imply to me that they were doing whatever they did for each user one at a time. Whether this was a matter of manually resetting the values, or just that they had to run their database script for each user seperately, I can't say.

I was docked some, but not all of my points. I had something like 8,000 referral points and was left with about 1,500 points. I had been in all the referral exchanges, but only one facebook post outside of this forum. I thought this was a little harsh at first, but then I figured that the link exchanges started dying after the first couple of days, especially with the img trick out there.

It is possible to get back up and get a small prize. I was at 8,000 or so over all after the wipe. But in the last couple of days I've gotten lucky and won a bunch of twiter challenges, so I now will be able to get something.

I was in the similar mindset as Cynical. I thought I was going to be DQ'd, so I stopped bothering with the contest. Then the come back and dock arbitrary amounts of points which pissed me off way more than being DQ'd.
I know Priestly was lying when they said they had a way to track it. Anyone with a little experience working with web logs will know you can't tell the difference between a request from an IMG tag or a normal click.
They just guestimated, more harshly for some less harshly for others. Clearly not a fair and even punishment.
Especially when other forms of cheating are allowed to continue and those using them winning the big ticket items.
Anyway, if I don't get an answer from Priestly by lunch time tomorrow, I'll be spending part of my Friday afternoon on the phone with a representative of my state's attorney.
