I don't believe the artists for Mass Effect are having an easy time conveying the Asian features. If I remember correctly, in ME 1, the security guard on Noveria (the one who stops you when you first land) was of Asian descent, but her features didn't really convey that. You basically have to listen to some of her dialect to notice.
Hopefully they work on asian feautres in ME3, because there may not be many asians in ME dosent mean people wont want to make asian characters, also now kasumis is in, and damn she better be back as a squaddie (or LI? hopeflly) so now they kinda have more of a reason.

I actually thought Maeko Matsuo did cover some Asian features rather well. But when Revelation
describes Anderson, it does stress the homogenization of various racial
features. Still, while I think a mixed racial background has become the
norm in the future, think there is still some room for your more
classic racial appearances.
I've been wondering about the
differences you're likely to find from someone who lives on earth
versus those that are spacefaring. Kasumi struck me as someone who was
born and raised in Japan, but she obviously took to knowing the ropes
of alien society quite quickly. But there are going to be those who
never see an asari in person.
Everyone being one race is a high possibiblity, increased immigration and all that, we are in a very diverse place. However that dosent mean in ME there would be everyone mixed race, there could be people who are pure asian, caucasian, african and hispanic. There could have been a colony started by all japanese people that is still full of japanese people, same for other cultures, its not a possibility to rule out, especially in the ME universe.
