Kasumi's the best thief in the business, but not the best known. Seems to take on the perspective that if you know she's done the theft, she's been sloppy. So I wonder how someone hires a thief anyway. Or if she keeps a lookout for prospective clients and contacts them first. I figure a lot of her theft jobs were even on her own volition and she had some sort of middleman she would sell the items to.

I don't really think she was normaly for hire, more like she was in it for her own interests. Although she definately enjoyes what she does I must say. Quite possibly the threat of  annihilation of all sentient life can be very persuasive when it comes to loaning out your services.

I hope Kasumi is just like Tali in ME1, in the sense that she didn't show any interest in Shepard to indicate a possible relationship in the future. Same with Kasumi in ME2 (unless there's some part I didn't reach yet since I'm still on my first playthrough): she hasn't shown a particular interest in Shepard, but I hope that changes, because male Shep and Kasumi would be AMAZING together! (!!!)
