I really wish they would. She's had a year to get past Keiji's death and should probably be ready to move on.

Though, if Bioware really wanted to be evil to us Kasumi fans, they'll hook her up with Jacob at the start of ME3.. :crying:

Ireally love your ideas here Ilovemesometurian...especially her stealing Sheps gear and laying it out nicely for him...and I do hope she comes back a bi-sexual NPC....as you note, it's her personality and battle style, she is full of win...Kasumi, Garrus and Legion are my favorite squaddies...I love taking Kasumi and Garrus on my missions, they are my top pics due to their dialog and combat.....Kasumi's flash bangs have saved me more times than I can count and I have worked out a perfect battle strategy between her and my Widow toting Infiltrator Shep, she teams beautifully with him.

^^ Indeed, very good theories / ideas.
Your theory on Kasumi being available even if you don't have her DLC could be quite possible... As I seem to remember a Dev saying something along the lines of  'If you haven't played any of the ME2 DLC, then decisions made in the DLC will be made for you, as if you had played them'.
(Sorry can't remember where I heard this...I think it may of been one of the Game Informer interviews or the Livestream event, not sure).

@GoldenOwl: I too take Garrus and Kasumi nearly everywhere. Awesome Pair :D.

Interesting.....I have yet to do this(can't bring myself to do it) and it makes me think that if mostly all of your squad dies in ME2 will Kasumi then be a permanent squad member?....How many characters have to die in order for Kasumi to be in the squad?....If everyone survives what dictates Kasumi to be in the squad?

This one lends me to believe characters are going to pop in and out of the squad this go round. Wonder if anyone stays with you the entire game.

Very Interesting twitter quotes. I guess we will have to wait a few more months before we get any detailed info on squaddies.

I think Kasumi has (will have) had  longer than a year to get over Keiji. Bioware said that ME3 takes place about 12 months after the events of ME2. So thats 1 year, plus at least a few months before you meet Kasumi (if I had to guess, I would probably say that Keiji died maybe about 6 months before ME2).

I'm all up for a Shep/Kasumi romance, but it would have to be done right (i.e. Kasumi opens up to Shep first, as to avoid it from looking like Shep is bit of a jerk and/or taking advantage).

Looks like we gotta new section for ME3 Characters and Romances. They actually want us to focus on Romances surprisingly(lol true Rheia). social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/325/index

I'd recommend we all give our love to Kasumi in there. I did not see a Kasumi thread yet in there but I just glanced through it. Too lazy to start one up right now lol.

I don't think it's so much that they want us to focus on the romances, but rather just try to unload the multitude of romance-related threads from general discussion. :)

Found a neat screenie :)

If Kasumi is in this game as a permanent squaddie/LI, I swear I will buy the collectors edition (which was already a given) and three more copies of Mass Effect 3 just for the hell of it. One for Xbox and 2 for PS3.

I SWEAR THIS TO YOU BIOWARE! I SWEAR IT!

Here is a fantastic fanfic of a Kasumi romance by GarrusGotoLawson. This Shep's story is followed as he makes his decisions and romances KASUMI!!!

She bit the tip of her pencil. She knew she should stop doing that. With the marketing on items preceding 2100, real life pencils were as expensive as the books she had lying around her room. She was stuck on the five word line. She wanted to rhyme with this one word, but couldn't think of anything. Kasumi got a little irritated, thinking why he couldn't have an easier name to rhyme with. The closest thing she got was leopard and that wouldn't work. Like a battlefield leopard? Shooting like a deadly green pepper?
"No..." she bit the eraser again, "That's no good."
She sighed and put down the paper and pencil on the seat next to her. She got up and walked over swiftly to the terminal near her, her footsteps as silent as a ghost on the metal floor of the Normandy. She leaned herself against the terminal, holding her body up with her hands as she smiled as a blue sphere pulsed to life in front of her.
"Good morning, Kasumi." it sparked.
Kasumi's eyebrow raised hidden under the shadow of her hood. "How do you know it's morning? We're in space."
"I am clocked with an internal time signature for numerous planetary day and night schedules. On Earth it is currently seven fourty six ante meridiam."
Kasumi smiled, "Oh EDI. If I had worlds of information at the snap of my fingers, I don't think I'd ever leave my room."
EDI remained silent for a few minutes.
Kasumi shrugged, "Oh, right. No fingers."
"I can imitate a snapping sound if you prefer."
She laughed again. This computer was making her laugh? Fantastic. "You mastered comical timing now? Exactly how much is Joker teaching you?"
EDI replied in a more upbeat tone, "He has done an efficent job at instructing me on organic humor. It is very different from how Legion and I converse, but I am gaining concensus on such matters."
"Yeah. Just as long as you keep letting me know when he watches Azure porn." Kasumi replied.
"He still is not aware that you've hacked his ear speakers and wired his extranet sites' volume controls to play over the ship's loudspeaker?" EDI asked.
The thief grinned. "Hasn't the slightest idea."
"Ah. I can see how that would be humiliating." EDI sparked with neurons of approval, "Well done."
"Yeah Garrus got a kick out of it."
"Is there another reason you contacted me this morning Ms. Goto?"
Kasumi snapped her fingers, but quickly retracted her hands, "Oh, the snapping. Sorry. But yes, I did need you for something."
"Ready." EDI replied.
Kasumi sighed, her eyes shifting to the door. It became a habit of hers to look at every room's openings whenever she was on a job, especially when handling sensitive information.
And this was about as sensitive as they come. "Just don't share this with anyone on the ship, okay? I'm not mean enough to hack you, but I'm mean enough to want to."
"I would prefer you did not as it would strain our friendship. I promise security as long-"
Her hands waved vigorously in front of her, as if Kasumi was swishing away the very idea of it retaining to the mission. "Oh, no. It's certainly nothing Mr. Illusive would be interested in. You see I'm writing a haiku, and I just... well..."
EDI's sensors bleeped in a blank tone.
"I need something that rhymes with Shepard."
EDI remained silent. Her networking flashed with random lighting. Kasumi stared at the computer, waiting for a response. Damn. She didn't know her haiku would stump the computer too.
"Say leopard and I'll scream."
The computer flashed again. "Oh, I apologize. I believe Grunt is in the cargo bay fiddling with one of my terminals again."
Kasumi crossed her arms and shrugged, "The Bejujan pepper spray didn't work?"
"No. Apparently he enjoys spicy foods." the A.I. replied.
"He is a krogan."
"Indeed. As for your poem there are a few words in turian and asari language that rhyme with Shepard."
She didn't want something that rhymed in turian, even though they both were poetic languages. "That doesn't sound like me. Isn't there something that rhymes with Shepard in english?"
Suddenly a voice sparked behind her, "Why do you need something that rhymes with Shepard?"
Kasumi stiffened. Three things went through her mind as she slowly turned around. One, Shepard was standing right behind her. Two, how did she not hear him come in? And three... holy **** Shepard was behind her.
Holy ****... Shepard was behind her.
She turned fully and stared at him. Her eyes shined only by the light that reflected from the plasma lamps above her. She saw his rigid jawline and his soulfull blue eyes. She always remembered those eyes... the way she felt when she saw him while he interacted with her fake digi-ad. Whenever she was on a mission with him and he barked his orders, his eyes would connect with hers for a split second as shots fled from their guns into the air around them. Aiden Shepard was walking poetry... and how was she going to explain this one to him?
She whispered his name quieter than she wanted to. "Shepard..."
He shifted his weight to one leg and crossed his arms, "Are you writing more graffiti on the ship? I know what your handwriting looks like now."
Kasumi giggled to herself. "Nothing so adventurous. Just... writing something."
Shepard raised his eyebrows, genuinely interested. Kasumi found that cute. "What are you writing?"
"I..." she was a thief. Come on, she was a thief. If she could hack two YMIR mechs while simultaneously going hand to hand with an asari mercenary commander while toting around the Emerald of Ellenvia in her satchel, then she sure as hell could LIE.
"I'm documenting our travels. Our missions... that kind of stuff." she fibbed. Excellent work Ms. Goto. Dodging words was twice as hard as dodging rockets. But at least words don't blow up.
"Really?" Shepard replied, his crooked smile sneaking across his face. "Can I read it one day?"
She grinned, "Uh... it's not exactly finished, Shep."
Despite the shy air now surrounding Kasumi, Shepard knew that she was usually optimistic and full of excitement. She was always excellent for morale, consoling Samara after she lost her daughter, teaching Garrus how to deal with firewalls, exchanging friendly chatter with Gabby and Hadley and the rest of the crew. So why was it that whenever Shepard came around nowadays, she would practically go invisible right before his eyes?
He reached over and touched her arm, which surprised Kasumi. She flinched, and she couldn't tell if that was because she was so used to assaulting guards who touched her, or if her feelings really were showing on her sleeve.
"You know Kasumi, this mission is hard on everyone. We're going around, putting good men and women in harm's way as we try to stop the Collectors." This was true. While Shepard knew this had to be done, he also knew that every time he recruited another member of the team, he was essentially signing on another good man or woman to certain death at the hands of vile aliens.
"I hate seeing good people like you being put into dangerous situations on a daily basis." Kasumi's eyes shifted rapidly, darting over Shepard's facial features. "You keep the crew so relaxed whenever you're around... I helped Samara find Morinth... but you helped her deal with whatever she was facing afterwards... things that I can't fix with a gun or a rescue."
The now shy thief opened her mouth, but no words came out. Shepard continued, "So what I'm trying to say is... well, thank you. You have a beautiful soul, Kasumi. And you're more than a valuable member of this team. More than a technical genius who has everyone's back. You're-"
Kasumi reeled back a touch. "You think I'm beautiful?"
For a moment neither of them spoke. Those last words hung in the air as Shepard was now the one speechless. The only sound that could be heard was the pulsing of EDI as she watched from her terminal, but by this time they had both forgotten her program was still even running.
Shep sighed, "Well... I didn't mean..." he rubbed the back of his neck and Kasumi tilted her head slightly. "I'm sorry, that was unprofessional. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
Kasumi leaned forward. Her silent steps never echoing as she closed the gap between her and her commander. She bit her lower lip, slightly smudging the asari lipstick she was wearing.
"Kasumi... you..." he followed suit, leaning forward to reach the height of her lips. She went onto the tips of her toes and they kissed. Their lips meshed together in a passionate moment that had been hidden (sometimes literally) away for far too long. Her shoulders shrugged as he wrapped her arms around her and her hood fell backwards as she tilted her head upwards.
Kasumi gasped and quickly pulled away. Shepard reeled back almost in horror. "Kasumi, I'm sorry, I-"
She waved her hand at him. "No, no... Shep... Shepard... that was what I wanted. It was perfect, I just..."
He looked at her. A slight eyeshadow that matched the color of his lipstick glazed over her eyes. Her eyes were a very dark purple, a trait that those of african, indian and asian descent had developed in the last hundred years, and her eyelashes were very long. But what drew him most to her face was the long, shining black hair that flowed down her neck and into her suit. In all his thoughts of how her face looked, he never pictured such beautiful and flowing hair, especially at that length.
He didn't get a long view though. Kasumi quickly pulled the hood back up over her head, covering her eyes and the bridge of her nose. Shepard gently grabbed her hand, halting it.
"Wait..." he said to her. Kasumi gazed at him as he tried pulling it back down. She let him reveal a small bit of her face again before she stopped him.
"I... I just feel kind of naked nowadays when I'm not wearing it." she said with a small half-smile.
Shepard grinned. "I imagine being a beautiful women and a thief can contradict each other." he let the hood go and she placed it back over her head. "Beauty makes it easy to be distinguished. Especially considering you have such a rare genetic trait."
She knew he meant her eyes. "Yeah... it's sad because every once in a while, this trait links with partial colorblindness. I was kind of lucky not to be the five percent that gets it."
"Listen, Kasumi... this mission, I came in here originally to ask you to accompany me on our next deployment."
She cleared her throat. "What's the mission Shep?"
"We're en route to the Citadel. Thane asked me for a favor..."
"Ah." she said matter of factly, "Kolyat."
Shepard raised his eyebrows. "Even Thane?"
"Even Thane." she said, smiling. "I've heard the story."
"Well then you know why I need your skills here. There's no telling what kind of contract he's accepted and taking in a powerhouse like Grunt or a variable like Jack is too risky, and I'd like to keep Miranda, Zaeed, Legion and Jacob away from Citadel space as much as possible. Taking in a large squad isn't ideal either."
"So you need my infiltration skills to track Kolyat?"
"That and you're one of the only people who I know that can hack into C-Sec systems remotely. While Thane and I get information about Kolyat's contract, I want you and Garrus to find a link site and get us into their network undetected."
Kasumi nodded, "I can do that."
He brought his hands up to her cheeks. "Look, I don't want you distracted... but I don't want this to end here. When we get back of this mission... can we sit down and talk?"
Kasumi hesitated. This was not right. With Keiji... she didn't get a chance to say goodbye. She didn't get a chance to tell his non-digital self how she really felt. If she fell for Shepard... then she might just set herself for another situation only this time... she'd be able to say goodbye. Could she deal with that? Not to sound cruel, but she found it so much easier to deal with a sudden death rather than a scenario where they were both staring their inevitable death in the face. As much as she wanted to be optimistic about this one... she had to take in all the options. Was this feeling worth the pain?
She raised her hand to touch Shepard's and sighed. "You know where to find me."
"No cloaking."
"No cloaking." she replied.
Shepard nodded, smiling slightly. "All right. ETA is fourty minutes. Pack the Locust and a Phalanx and meet me in the cargo hold. Tell Garrus to pack his Incisor."
She nodded silently. Shepard released her with one last stroke of her cheek and the automated door opened. As he left and the door sealed behind him, Kasumi felt the place he touched just a moment before.
EDI spoke, "Kasumi... are you well?"
She didn't even care the computer was on the whole time. "Honestly EDI? I really don't know."
Only time would tell.

I get siding with Morinth over Samara to have a chance of being grim in ME3, but what exactly is "grim" about Kasumi? Letting her keep the Keiji's greybox and the info contained within or destroying it?

This really got me curious, since I initialy doubted that how you handle the greybox dilema is actually going to have an impact on ME3..

I think that's not about "grim" stuff but about Shepard being completely alone in ME3. Since Morinth and Kasumi are not main characters there is less chance that they will appear in ME3. Therefore Shepard forever alone.

If anything having Morinth and Mordin would be even more grim. Because Mordin's not as battle fierce (no offense Mordy!) and Morinth is a psychotic murderer who wants to kill everyone with supersex powers. Plus it's looking like Mordin may only be there for a certain couple missions. At this point Kasumi could be anything from a cameo to a full character with LI, plus she's kickass in combat =D

Also @ Noble6, I will definately try to find a link to him. If I can't, well then I'll just have him email me more of the story with the Kasumi bitsImage IPB

Kasumi was one of the best characters in ME2 and definitely great addition. Her commenting about things was just fun to listen. And she was great in battle too, thanks to her skills.

Also the whole Kasumi DLC were great and definitely worth of every BW point.

Now I just hope that Kasumi would return and preferably as permanent as possible character in ME3. And if she would be LI, then all the better.

Kasumi is definitely one of my favorite squadmates. I like her personality and fighting skills a lot, her dialogue is funny, and her DLC mission was pretty awesome (personally one of my favorites of the game; loved the vibe to it, very Bond or Ocean's Eleven kind of thing).

I really hope she returns in ME3 and if she is a love interest option I think that would be pretty awesome.

They could still hear the barking of orders. Mercs were less than intelligent when it came to field tactics, especially the lower class Blue Suns. Shepard could gauge by the strength of each individual's shields exactly where they ranked on the Suns' chain of command. Some of their shields had anything ranging from Extavier 93-23's to the new Vivica shielding systems, which meant each merc could be taken down in two shots or fifty.
The five member squadren hid behind the collapsed pillar that made up the Blue Sun's base. Shepard grunted as two shots pumped into the stone above his head. He gripped his Tarmac E-19 Assault Rifle and his omni-tool pulsed to life. He tried re-vamping his shield's layers that were taken down by the merc commander's Disruptive Shockwave.
Garrus prepared his Titan Armor with another additional shield layer. Multiple mercs shot down at the group from high-up rafters that hung over the battlefield. Garrus stepped out of cover and quick-scoped the nearest three mercs with a furious Incisor burst. "We need a bit of a plan Shepard!" he yelled.
A female turian Blue Suns commander shot at Garrus from a high piston with her Tempest SMG. He ducked and doged the shots.
"Miranda, turian commander, top shelf!" Garrus barked.
Miranda ran out from cover and jumped to her left. She pulsed in blue aura as she swiped her hand leftward. The turian commander yelped as she flew into the air. Her legs kicked wildly as she hovered, clinged to the sky.
Another merc aimed at Miranda. Shepard took him down with a Concussive Shot and ducked back into cover. The merc flew off his perch.
"Fall and die!" Miranda yelled. She threw the turian to the ground below her and into a squad of mechs. They collided and the mechs exploded into bits of flame and shrapnel. Miranda dodged a quick couple shots from another group of three mercs. She spun behind a standing pillar and turned to the other side. She stuck out both hands. Her omni flashed in one and shut down all three of their shields. As the mercs flinched in surprise, her other hand lifted all three of them in the air.
"Yours, Garrus!" she replied in her aussie accent. Garrus hopped back out of cover and sent a Concussive Blast at the floaters. They bursted apart and flew into nearby walls and shrubs.
Shepard nodded as Miranda and Garrus dodged back into cover. Shepard felt relieved that his crew were all safe from fire for the moment, but if he didn't do something quickly then they would be overwhelmed by the nonstop flow of Suns mercs raining down on them.
Time to put the plan into action. He looked over to his far left. "Zaeed, keep your friends busy!"
Zaeed grabbed ahold of his shotgun. "The bastards ain't MY friends!" he stood out of cover and blasted a few foes with his Deiger. He started clipping down a few mercs while taking a few hits to his shields, even though he didn't care if they depleted or not. He was a prime distraction. Shepard looked over to Kasumi next to him. She was still messing with her omni-tool with both of her pistols and her Locust unequipped. He looked at her cautiously. "Kasumi, is it ready?"
The thief showed her crooked smile. "Yes. Activating systems remotely... now!"
Suddenly their base rumbled. Several turrets revealed themselves out of bushes, trees, walls and pillars. They all sparked with blue electricity and caught the attention of several guards.
Garrus's jaws twitched in surprise. "Ah crap."
Miranda gasped and hid behind her pillar. "What's going on?"
Kasumi bit her lip, "Just give me a second..."
Suddenly the turrets all beeped, positioning themselves and turning towards the nearest Blue Suns merc. They began shooting their payload at rapid speeds, causing the mercs to break formations and duck behind cover. Garrus, Zaeed and Miranda took advantage of the distraction and began picking off numerous guards who had their backs turned or were running for cover. Kasumi's omni-tool flashed and she grinned. "Ninety percent of their network hacked, Shep."
Shepard grinned. "Nice job Ms. Goto."
She smiled back at the playful quip. "Think we can enter the base now?"
Out of nowhere her omni-tool flashed. It bleeped with an ominous tone as she looked down at it and gasped. "Oh God..."
Out of the top of the merc base, a larger turret rose and aligned its sights toward the battle field. It glowed a hot red and the ground began rumbling like a thresher maw was beneath them.
Garrus peeked out of cover. He gasped, "Shepard!"
"Turret incoming!" Miranda shouted.
"It's a big one Shepard! Rocket turret, big enough to take out the whole goddamn playing field!" Zaeed shouted.
Shepard turned to Kasumi, "Hack the shields, now!"
Kasumi quickly punched commands into her omni tool. All the turrets turned toward the larger rocket turret and opened fire. Bullets pinged off a layer of plasma shielding around the gun's armor. Miranda sent Overload shockwaves towards the cannon while Garrus and Zaeed fired at it with Disruptive Ammo. None of it did any good.
"Of course the ten percent I haven't gotten around to hacking is a cannon. It never fails-"
"Kasumi!" Shepard shouted. He took out his Missle Launcher and fired a couple shots that shrugged off the rocket turret like it was nothing.
Her eyes darted in a sort of panic. She hit one last command into her omni tool as the cannon charged up the last of its energy. The shielding dropped and Kasumi screamed, "Hit it now!!"
Shepard hollered and sent a trio of rockets towards the cannon as Kasumi directed all of the other turrets toward it. The cannon shot off it's energy blast right before Shepard's rockets came into contact with it and exploded. A ball of flame shot towards the Normandy squad. Garrus dragged Miranda to the ground and Zaeed jumped backwards into cover. Kasumi tackled Shepard to the ground and waved her hand as the crews' shields pulsed with hard blue energy. The bomb impacted in front of them and the whole area became inbued with flaming smoke as pillars fell and dust and rocks scattered in all directions. Screams of the Blue Suns mercs that didn't make it echoed only to be drowned out by the sound of exploding debris and stone. With that, the battlefield had been stripped of order and the state of Shepard's squadren unknown.

Awesome Kasumi and Shepard battle scene from GarrusGotoLawson. I really REALLY like his writing style! Image IPB

Hmm, I have to say that I'm somewhat surprised that there are so few active Kasumi fans.

Or is it just that there is not much new to talk to, because we don't know if she will be in ME3 and what role?

There are still quite a few active Kasumi Fans, but sadly there just isn't much to talk about anymore (most topics have been covered many times).

Hopefully in a few months when there is some Bioware news about squadmates / returning characters it will bring some liveliness back into this thread.

@ ilovemesometurian: Thanks for posting another excellent piece of GarrusGotoLawson's awesome fan-fic :D

Yeah it's kind of hard with her DLC status to keep talking about her, even though many peoples' dying love for her never falters! =D When more info is released people will swarm to this site. I still think she'll be a main character. The devs said Shepard has access to all his personal items from ME2 but where are they? Can you say KASUMI HAS THEMMMM =D That would be a great way to introduce her as a main squaddie!!

Also @Noble 6, I have a story for you! So I went around searching for who GarrusGotoLawson is and I found out that he's a budding author! So I searched around and saw that he's put his fanfics on hold at the moment in order to finish a book he's trying to get published. This intruiged me, so I went to his website and read up on his book and it's FANTASTIC! It's like a mass effect meets dragon age story and the backstory is amazing! On his blog it said his major inspiration were the characters and story from the Mass Effect series and he then says (and i quote) "Garrus and Kasumi forever" <3<3<3:O:O:O

This struck me as awesome! Mass Effect inspired this person to write a book! And he loves Kasumi! His facebook site says that the websites are still being worked on a little but anyway his writing style is great and he said he'd post some more of his work up soon and I thought you'd want to check it out. The link to the website is http://personaepublications.webs.com/

I can't wait for him to do more Kasumi fanposts and this novel is looking awesommme =D Ahh I love when a good story touches alot of people. See BioWare?? This is a great reason to put Kasumi in ME3! She inspires BOOKS!! =D:pinched::innocent:

I think I'm obsessed. Every time I get up in the morning to check my email, before I do anything else I google "Kasumi goto permanent squad member ME3" and check for confirmations. It leads me here, my obsessive Kasumi ranting goes on for hours, and nothing gets done. SO worth it though.

I heart you Goto. I really do. At least be an LI. I'm begging you Kasumi. TAKE ME!
