He does have one of the weirdest accents I've ever heard - I'm sure south africans would find it a bit odd too. It does seem to be derived from there, but there are some weird elements that seem out of place. The twisty vowels are pretty much from Dutch/Afrikaans, but I also heard the unaspirated consonants you get in Southeast Asian english accents. Um, if you don't speak a language that has distinct aspirated/unaspirated sounds (like most North Indian languages) it's likely that you may not be able to hear that difference.

I couldn't place my finger on it but it sounded like a very thick middle-eastern accent.  If anyone remembers the original Assassin's Creed that's what it reminded me of.

I think its hollywood Affrikaans

Anyone want to speculate on what Hock's accent is supposed to be?

Besides, you know, generic bad-guy-ian?

he sounded irish to me

I didn't get that at all. Sounded Australian to me, maybe New Zeland?
Definately not Irish.

well i wouldnt know i havent really heard a new zealand accent before and i never really hear other accents out side of tv :?

Im guessing South African, i was just waiting for him to yell out "Fooking Prawns"

Funny how everyone is guessing on Donovan's accent. I thought that Zaeed was Australian but turns out he's British so I'm the last person who could correctly guess Donovan's accent.

Hock is a south african

You can even start speculating for fun, since this is a future accent after all. Since India is apparently a huge economic superpower at the time of ME2, there was probably a fair bit of immigration to it, and Hock might be descended from South Africans who moved there. :wizard:

Of course, the voice actor could just have messed up a South African accent. Or worse, someone out there actually sounds like him for real.

I thought he sounded Indian at first, and then Scottish.  LOL  Whatever...**** is dead.

At first I thought Hock sounded Northern Irish, but after listening to him for a few more seconds I was literally like "uh..wtf" in my head. Maybe wasn't meant to have a specific accent, just a...random accent, I guess. A made up one, lol!

Hock's accent somewhat swayed between South African and the way that Temuera Morrison as Jango Fett from Attack Of The Clones spoke, being Maori influenced. One of my wife's friends is also a New Zealander Maori too, and there are definitely some similarities, but it's not exact. The thing is though, is that his accent seemed to swing between the two at random. One sentence, and he'd sound very much Afrikaan, and the next sentence, sounds vaguely like a Maori influenced New Zealander (MNZ) accent.

I'm just guessing that the voice actor attempting to sound South African, but having not done enough practise on it, occasionally slipped into nowhere land that vaguely resembles MNZ.

What's the Zaeed reference? I only caught the Archangel one. Also, Shep digging around in the cushions was hilarious--"Aha!" "You found some DNA?" "No, a credit chit!" [+1 credits]

I quite liked it, though I don't think it was worth seven bucks. It also would have been nice to bring another squaddie on such a combat-heavy mission.

Anybody know what her other LI comments are? I only know Garrus, Thane, and Tali's...I imagine she might have a 'not interested' line like Mordin if you're not romancing anyone at the time.

Also--anyone else playing Femshep kinda annoyed at the camera angles driving to the estate? Normal conversation, then HEY BOOBS CHECK OUT YOUR FANCY NEW CLEAVAGE OVER 9000 HOURS IN MS PAINT ON DEEZ TEXTURES, BOOBS BOOBS also i guess kasumi is talking, whatever BOOBS.

When you're by the security door you'll hear the Blue Suns mentioned, also that they've taken over a refinery and how great Santiago (Vido) has been for them. But it doesn't directly mention Zaeed.

Actually if you have done the mission before hand and took Zaeed's side and killed Vido they will mention that Zaeed got him.

It doesn't take long for accents to shift - consider the usa dialect of english, for example. It's called linguistic drift, and for Hock means of SA descent mixed with others. Perfectly legit, like any, it's just commonality that makes a dialect sound 'right'.

Facinating new character. Music at the party was nice to say the least. Great background image for the leve with the skyscrapers in the distancel. I want more obviously and I think it's probably not worth 7 dollars, more like 1 or 2 probably. I figure games are worth about a dollar fifty an hour.

There is a BUG with the DLC, With my Vanguard, I had to restart mish 3x on final fight, before I figured it out. Seems Vanguard KB Powers causes the game to glitch. Well I guess anyone's KB, but I noticed Charged caused glitches, like it doesn't recognize you knocking someone over the ledge as a legit death, thus wont continue the fight phase.

So thats why this thing won't die. Fail DLC is Fail. -.-

I loved that too!  It made me wish you could steal the statue back and keep it on the Normandy as a trophy. Image IPB

Looking through YouTube vids right now, this actually seems quite good and adds a lot of content. Still, I won't buy it - not only because 11 leva is a bit steep for me (the CE cost me 70 leva) - but I feel that Mass Effect 2 is full of great characters and some of my squad members are already spending too much time grounded on the Normandy. With Kasumi, it would be almost cramped... maybe in a few months, once the price drops - do DLC prices even drop, actually?

I can't feel that this makes Cerberus Network a complete failure, though, excluding Zaeed, who was a great addition. The "Firealker" DLC doesn't have even a fraction of the cinematic quality "Stolen Memory" does, and I even tried to justify its shortcomings. Compared to Kasumi, rhough, it's awful.

I was very pleased. Bioware DLC sucks half the time and I was very pleased with this. New causual outfits, a interesting squadmate who even eithout a dialog wheel is fun and interesting and gives a comment if you slept with Miri ^ ^, good gun, fantastic mission and story and really just fantastic quality. If this is how feture paid DLC for ME2 is going to be (maybe a little bit longer) then I am all for it.

Anyone got a line on the music from the mission? Seemed like it was new, I don't remember hearing it elsewhere in the game or in the soundtrack.

Most likely it's her theme, Zaeed also had his own score for his mission. All squadmates have a unique score.

AMAZING. It's probably the best DLC for ME2! Also, Kasumi's sweet - a throwback to the classic cat burglar character. I mean...the roses, the paintings, the bar... Also, dress <3

Donovan's scottish accent was horrible, though.

The length of the mission is relative anyway, so it's really pointless to use that to judge the quality of the DLC.

That said, I find the Kasumi DLC to be excellent. The mission is nice, it's evident that they put real effort into the level design and the fact that the Eclipse guards got a "new" ability as well is also a nice touch.

I never had a problem with the "missing conversation wheel" to begin with and Kasumi is therefore nice to chat with, especially since her comments reflect the mission progress, which kinda adds to the immersion. This is some good DLC and definitely worth the money.

Oh yeah, the new SMG is pretty wicked, too.

I can't wait to pit her against some husks, though.

Overall enjoyed it.  It was fun and worth it.  I liked the Bond feel to the mission.

Kasumi is taking square aim at Tali fans (everything Tali has, but hotter... and a cute personality, sounds young.  The only thing diff is that she has been around the bend... but she is sappy and romantic, and loyal).  Her lower lips pops out a lot when talking from the side though.

The new gun is awesome... very *pew pew pew*

The voice acting of the bad guy was pretty... bad.  You could tell he was going for Scottish... and often got lost with that.

Loved the Shep outfit.  Femshep was looking good.

I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable. I had hoped for a recruitment mission but I guess that might have been a bit too much to ask :D
Pros:
- Nice change of pace with the start of the loyalty mission, instead of turn up and start shooting.
- New SMG is awesome, range and accuracy is just when my vanguard needs to soften things up instead of spraying wildly with the Tempest
- Shadow strike is fun times, will kill off pretty much anything with 80% health life left (expect bosses of course). And the evolved power is awesome too, 80% CD reduction on a killing blow for the win.
- Krogan cartoon. 'nuff said.

Cons:
- Hock's accent, that was all over the place at the start.

SPOILERS

I agree! This, coupled with the end fight, the shots of Hock in the cockpit, looked very much like District 9. When what's-his-face gets in the mech battle suit thingy.

But as for the overall DLC, I loved it. Little sad you can't talk to Kasumi like other crew, but it's understandable. Can't expect BioWare to go record a bijillion lines of dialouge for Make Shep, Fem Shep AND Kasumi...
Just thinking that they might've got Seth Green back in to record like two or three sentences referencing Kasumi... Impressive.

DLC like this is cool, as I kinda feel like it allows BioWare to go in a direction they might have initially not had time to persue during development. Feels they got to experiment a little.

I kinda wanted to keep Hock's mansion at the end of that mission. xD I mean, that VIEW! Gorgeous city in the background, ships in the air...

And also, WHAT happened to the Earth? I mean, I know it's not in the state of Tuchanka, but in Hock's vault... Lady Liberty, Michelangelo's david! I was shocked and was wondering what the heck has been going on on Earth the last couple centuries... To let these pieces come to ruin!

END SPOILERS

This was a great DLC. I loved the cinematography of the whole bit, and just the artistic style in general (esp the view from the mansion!). But, just as everyone else has been saying, more dialogue and an actual dialogue wheel would be great. Also, maybe Kasumi's alternate outfit should be red and blue with black webbing, it would look really nice when she's takin out the shields of the copter ;)

I say this is tied with Bring down The Sky as the best Dlc to be on a Mass Effect game imo.

Good story, interesting character(s), funny easter eggs, some funny dialogue. If I had to grade this Dlc I give it a C+ to a B. Kasumi > Zaeed
