Does the amount of money you give her have any effect on the future of
the game? You can gfive her 10 Silver, 30 Silver or 5 Gold. And 5 Gold
is alot this early in the game.

When you first talk to here she asks for mony to help the refugees. PC asks how much and she say that 30 Silver will be enoth. You can then deside to give her 30 Silver, say that you only have 10 Silver or give her 5 Gold. So Im wondering if giving her 5 Gold will give you something extra? Will it later give you the key? Or does it do nothing?

You can get the key through simple persuasion or threat of force.
As per giving her 5 gold -- well I've been yet to have 5 gold by that point from buying pots and supplies.
I don't believe you get anything special for doing that, anyways Lothering goes kablooey after the first main plot you finish.

I gave her money and she didn't give me the key. I had my rogue unlock Sten's cage. I gave her money because I'm trying to play a good character. I'm hoping it helped my reputation.

After trying around it turns out that if you give her 5 Gold you will get the Key without having to threaten her. I guess it gives you a higher chance of persuasion on low levels?

Leliana's approval of you goes up based on what amount you give if she is in the party. for 30 silvers+2 for 5 gold you get +4. I'd stick with 30 silvers.

Despite having very high Cunning and Coercion 3 (or maybe even 4) at that point, I couldn't Persuade the Mother to give me the key (although I could intimidate it out of her) without giving the Chantry anything. Tossing her 30 silvers, though, made it go perfectly.

I didn't give her anything. I just asked for Sten to be released to my custody. She asked Leliana what she thought. Leliana backed me up. And then the old lady gave me the key.

1. Donating will mean she'll give you the key with no trouble.
2. Donating the 5 Sovereigns will give you a much more gracious dialogue from her about how much everyone will love you.
3. Donating the 5 Sovereigns will give you a higher approval rating with Leliana than if you donated low or not at all.
I donated because I was trying to be the good guy and a Maker worshipper on my Dwarf, that came to bite me in my ass when I got to the Alienage though!

Supposedly, the more you give, the better your chances of convincing her to give you the key, however, if Leliana's in your party, it's suupposed to be automatic, regardless of how much (if any) you donated.
