Well, I don't mind the pace... I've only done the Alistair one, and that one is at love and a sexual relationship about halfway through--that's if you let Alistair set the pace, which my PC does. I do wish that the dialogue didn't almost stop with the formation of the relationship though.... It would be nice if there were a few more romantic moments later on. Still, it feels meaningful, and when problems arise it's pretty wrenching. It adds a lot to roleplay throughout the game, even in combat situations. All in all, extremely affecting for a video game. Quite the leap for the genre, really.

I have to agree. I don't mind the pace because I always  let Alistair or Zevran do the pacing instead of myself. I also draw out any love/sex dialogue to take palce after each mission or journey or two.  So by the time Landsmeet has come around Alistair and I are sleeping together right before the big battle. But I as well wish there was more loving and romantic interaction after sex takes place no matter who you hook up with in your party.  The "Something you need, my dear" is sweet but a girl likes to hear more than that. Whether it be stopping in the middle of a trip to say or do something romantic or after a particularly nasty battle or whatnot. But when all is said and done the level of emotion that can be developed with your companions blew me away. I just hope future DA games give us the same quality and depth.

One gripe I have about the romances in Dragon Age is that each one culminates in sex.  I think it would be much more plausible if only some of the relationships developed into sexual intercourse.  For me, it feels like I'm just working towards a sex scene reward and not a loving connection with the character.

Another gripe I have is that these "loving" relationships form too quickly.  You go to camp, give them a lot of gifts, pick the correct dialogue choices and BAM!  You're having sex and in a "loving" relationship.  The original Mass Effect had much better pacing, I feel.  In ME1, you spend time talking and getting to know your love interest throughout the entire game and then finally, at the end, your relationship forms...and you have sex.

Anyone else feel the same way or similar?

You have to do a lot more than that to 'be' with Alistair. It takes quite a bit of time and I actually find his romance well paced if you don't rush things too much. I have romanced everyone except Morrigan (I have not played as a male) and I find romancing him the most believable for me; he is simply irresistible and I never get sick of him, he is so well written. The romance with Lelianna does not seem natural to me (not to surprising since I prefer men) and I just can't get into Zev. I myself would have preferred more dialogue with Alistair after you reach the 'love' level. I would have liked having the ability to talk with him and get his advice when facing moral dilemmas and asking for his opinion on certain things. I am still hoping (and praying) my Cousland female gets the opportunity to continue her life with hubby Alistair in future games, it will not be worth playing without him :(

What I always do after a really great battle is plant a huge kiss on Alistair, it just seems so right. I agree, I would love to see more romantic interactions/dialogue with Alistair.

I confess that it kinda bothers me that Alistair, who can dump the PC later on a matter of honour, will disapprove -10 if she doesn't sleep with him when he asks. I mean, it struck me as somewhat unchivalrous... (And the PC didn't really get an "I love you but I want to wait" option.)

I have to agree with Estelindis. Out of curiosity, is this the case with the other romanceable characters (such as Zevran?) I imagine it probably is.

Disapproval doesn't strickly mean disapproval of the PC, sometimes it can just mean that they just don't like what's going on or, as in this case, you made them feel bad/embarrassed/unhappy. That one there should read '-10 Alistair feels like crap.'

The same applies with Leliana. I let her set the pace and in fact it's best not to rush her; it's easy to screw things up if you do. She is way ahead my favourite.

She has a lot of depth if you explore it and let it come out and she is very sweet, even when hardened (I always harden her to cut down on the chantry comments), but her love/sex affectionate dialogue after you have achieved the relationship with her is basically limited to a couple of sentences. Nice that they may be to hear, it would be so nice to hear some variety from her for a change.

Another gripe for me is that after a kiss or sex, the companion and the warden stand around like two strangers at a bus-stop. There's no obvious body language interraction between them.

don't want to sound course but surely all romances that go well lead to sex in the end . Admittedly not all after a few quick chats :) but really that is one of the goals .

I like how you can forward the romance in dragon age when you see fit and not be barred from talking to them romantically till later like in ME . I would like them to have more/longer conversations to end up there , more flirting . Might sound sad but romance's in bioware games are always a big part of what has made ME and dragon age good. Hope they advance and improve them in future RPG's they make.

That's why it's best to download mods that don't cover your boobs at all... I don't think public nudity is against the law... Just cover up when you're going into a chantry. Solves a whole lot of problem and it's good to look at your character when you need to take a quick 2 minute break from playing.

With Zevran, as long as you don't insult him when you turn him down there is no disapproval at all.  I am running a really innocent male mage right now who bungled (as in didn't get to the tent) his attempts to invite Zev to the tent and got approval every time, turned Zevran down when Zev made the tent offer and then finally managed to consumate the relationship.

Edit: With the Zevran romance, you can put off going to the tent with him until after he makes a commitment by offering the earring which doesn't happen until the Landsmeet.  *SPOILERS*  To complete the romance with him, you must ask him to the tent after that, and he will refuse out of confusion about his feelings.  The romance does not complete until you talk to him again when he admits his feelings for the PC and offers the earring a second time if the PC initially refused it unless it was a token of affection and says that the earring is a proposal, "only if you wish it to be."  So the completion of his romance actually doesn't involve sex.  You can literally go off to kill the archdemon without having ever gone to the tent with him.  Kind of ironic given his reputation.

hence the reason why I get the the Shadow of the Empire or Wades Superior Drakeskin armor for my Rogue. Shows off the body and  some skin in the way that makes the men just dream of what it looks and feels like underneath there and is rather blatantly accentuated! I insist on looking sexy while killing at the same time!

Even better is when you kiss Alistair not at camp but in public at the the Final Onslaught. In fact I do that right after I chose who to take with me and before hitting the rooftop for the archdemon. The remarks from Oghren and Zevran are particularly funny. Alistair is embarrased all to hell and I find it delicious fun!Posted Image

I love to make out with him at Redcliffe Castle in the main hall, in front of Eamon, Teagan, Isolde and everyone (right after curing Eamon with the Ashes). I just feel like I'm sticking it to Isolde after the way she spoke to us (Alistair & my PC) at the Windmill prior to entering the Castle.

I do love embrassing Alistair sometimes with PDA's; however I get a huge kick out the NPC dialog when you are running around in the towns completing side quests. Yesterday the sytem had Wynne offering to explain where "Babies come from" to Alistair, (he got so embrassed) I could not stop laughing.

OMG yes! I nearly fell out of my chair when that happened to me and I do enjoy it when Wynne teases him about looking at my hindquarters! She is a wonderfully conniving, evil, mischievious lady.

As we lovers of Alistair  know he is to endearing not tease around with. From innocent boy to naughty, naughty man that he becomes!Posted Image

To Bratt1204 :

"Snicker" I could not agree more with you! I am headed to Redcliffe on my next game, i will remember to do that one just for ****s and giggles! Isolde's attitude rubs me the wrong way so am not particularly fond of her at all.

There really should be an option to romance Wynne... Her voice turns me on. I like her conversations about her bosoms... If you don't want to have sex with Wynne then let us have the option of taking a bath together... Besides Leliana, Wynne is probably the chick I would go after... I don't like Morrigan, it seems like she's been around the block... Who knows what she does when she's is in animal form... I prefer freshness, Leliana, or quality, Wynne...

I agree. I think Wynne would be a great romance option for the males - I think she has a huge crush on Alistair. I don't blame her though

So you don't like Morrigan because she's been around the block a few times, but you like Leliana and her "freshness"? Did you like, block out the whole bard thing and Orlesian promiscuity or something?

I don't blame her. Allister is great. I would love to romance Allister but I fear that once I do him his adorebleness will be gone. I want him to stay pure, innocent, and adoreable. I fear that once he takes a bite of someone's fruit, he'll become different. He's like a little puppy you don't want to have grown up. A cute little innocent baby and you want him to stay that way.

LMAO! That is exactly what I did. I put more weight on her forbidden fruit comment than any other. "Not every gets a bite," is enough to imply that MY Leliana is a sweet innocent girl who's fruit can only be bitten by those that love her.
So yea, I did ignore her supposed Orlesian materialistic lifestyle and assume she was an exception...<3
