My first playthrough was a HNM who made Anora queen because he realized that Ali didn't want to be king. So...what exactly is that supposed to mean?

Congratulations?

Weird in my games its more of a "you told me to stand up for myself and so I decided to do this out of duty." I never heard him say he actually *wanted* to be king unless I had a game where Anora betrayed me. Then again might be a limitation. And you hardened him on your first playthrough? Without spoilerz? What a mean to say! No wonder he dumped you!

If you talk to him at the Landsmeet before choosing a thing or a thing, he will say for definite, "Make me *bleep*." He does not sound uncertain whatsoever.

And I didn't say I didn't have spoilers. :P Hey, can't blame a girl for accidentally seeing things!
(And also, he didn't dump me. I became his *something*. Until he refused to let me do that thing at the end and did it for me instead, so apparently he did like me at least a little...
And then I ran to Zevran's open arms. <3)

Ah true I'll go ahead and edit that post. Twas an accident. No need to jump down my throat about it.

I apologize. Would you like some cookies?

 And that means what? My first female runthrough romance w/Ali was blind which according to you is a requirement to have an opinion on the whole "dumping is obvious" thing. Honestly I saw that breakup coming a mile away. (Didn't think Ali would actually go through with it but he proved me wrong. Turns out he does have a spine sometimes unhardened.)

Gah today isn't my day for the PS3 so I'll have to take your word on it. Though I could have sworn it was more of a "Make me King, It'll be better than having Anora rule and you're the one who encouraged me." kind of thing. Then again I'm always sure to ask him is he sure he wants to give up his life for this.

I apologize. Would you like some cookies?

if the main writer of the game  says something *cant* happen then no it cant without raping the lore

so no it wont be happening any time soon sorry

I'm certain many things *stated* as an improbability have turned out quite differently in the future.

Don't be an idiot. Gaider won't change it just because a fangirl is a bloody optimist.

Eh Bratt: He said through *normal* means. Which probably means there's some magical loophole. (Like there is with nearly everything in fantasy) so don't get too crushed.

Though why people even want the whole queen ending I'll never understand. I got that ending once and its not that great.

Sten is sexually aggressive as per the his conversation with Morrigan. I don't think it's impossible. We can just ask him not to bite and take it easy.

Well to be fair he also said something along the lines of death actually meaning death in Thedas which really hasn't been the vibe I've seen on the subject, so yeah.

I remember there being a thread about this subject where the fangirls pounded him for a way and he gave them "the holy elexir of Saradesh" as a possible cure. If you want to imagine it, it's ok but the lore says no.

Link to that spoiler-rich thread

The whole "my LI is better/more devoted/more self-sacrificing/sexier" than your LI" has a certain fifth grade feel to it.  Really, people.

All of the romances are well-written, quite deep, with surprising turns, and none of them have a pure happily-ever-after.  With all of them, the Warden is going to suffer the taint and die prematurely.  With Zevran and Leliana, you wil likely have assassins after you.  With Alistair, even when made *bleep*, what he most wants is a home and someone who accepts him for him, so that is happiness whether there is an heir or not (and Gaider qualified his statement later in the same thread to say that "anything is possible" and that pregnancy could not happen by natural means but if people want to imagine a Tevinter fertility charm why not... and it's not as if this game is bound by natural means).

As for the OP:  Why shouldn't sex be a big part of a romance??

Everyone with half a brain should know better than to listen to Ali anyway so I can see why he'd blame you!  Ali very sweet but like Morri not that bright.

Oho! Then you'll be happy to know I make very special peanut butter cookies.

One gripe I have about the romances in Dragon Age is that each one culminates in sex.  I think it would be much more plausible if only some of the relationships developed into sexual intercourse.  For me, it feels like I'm just working towards a sex scene reward and not a loving connection with the character.

Another gripe I have is that these "loving" relationships form too quickly.  You go to camp, give them a lot of gifts, pick the correct dialogue choices and BAM!  You're having sex and in a "loving" relationship.  The original Mass Effect had much better pacing, I feel.  In ME1, you spend time talking and getting to know your love interest throughout the entire game and then finally, at the end, your relationship forms...and you have sex.

Anyone else feel the same way or similar?

Sten and I were madly in love and never had sex.:wizard: Damn Qunari prudishness.

Nice try, sweetheart. I'm enough of a writer to know that when a head writer of a long project has stated something, it won't be changed unless it's forced to be changed by the producers of that project. And in this case, I don't think it will be changed.

This is one of those things I'm not sure why they would set it up so much only to retract it later. Nah, I'm pretty sure you can safely say you won't be having cute little babies any time soon.

And my character wanted the Queen (oh gosh spoilers!) ending because she got to be plenty mean to Alistair and still become Queen at the end. Why not?

Besides, the epilogue for becoming *spoilers! oh no!* Queen when not in love with Alistair is more fun anyway.

Define "spine."  He just capitulates to something else!

Seriously, I get the Alistair romance.  But you know, depending on how you play it, you will NOT be getting all the information before falling in love with him.  He does hide stuff, and he does hide what it will mean.  He's in love, but it's pretty selfish actually. B)

I've read an article that stated that men who 'start' late tend to have 'issues' later in life... You have more to worry about with Allister than him dying early of taint... Looks like Allister is a short term option... Unless you are willing to live without sex... I think Zevran and Sten would be better options...

This post should be ignored... It doesn't make sense...
