I did a pretty thorough search regarding this problem but none of the solutions suggested that I tried worked for me.

The Problem:
Mass Effect 2 Disc 2 will not load.
-> From the XBOX 360 dashboard: Screen turns black. HDD spins. Disc unreadable message displays.
-> From Mass Effect 2 Disc 1: Loading from an autosave trying to land on Tuchanka: Displays loading graphic. Allows selection of party members. Allows team points to be distributed. Disc unreadable message displays.

The History:
Other games work fine on XBOX 360. This does not appear to be a  hardware issue.
Mass Effect 2 Disc 2 was working just fine approx. 16 hours ago
With Mass Effect 2 Disc 2 in tray, visited XBOX marketplace approx. 5 hours ago.
Downloaded Mass Effect DLC.
Downloaded Mass Effect 2: Cerberus Network
Started up Mass Effect 2
Downloaded DLC from Cerberus Network
Loaded save file - Got 'Unreadable disc' error
From dashboard, selected Mass Effect 2 - Got 'Unreadable disc' error
Put in Disc 1, loaded save file
Read messages from DLC
Made new save file
Tried to go to Tuchanka - Put in Disc 2 - Got 'Unreadable disc' error

The Suggested Solutions Attempted:
-Clean disc
-Tap console while disc is loading
-Delete all DLC and re-download them
-> Note: Even with all the DLC deleted, Disc 2 STILL gives "Unreadable disc' error

The Odd thing:
ALL my save files from Mass Effect AND Mass Effect 2 got their dates changed to Nov. 22, 2005.

The Only Thing I Haven't Tried Yet:
Formatting the HDD
Deleting and re-downloading DLC 6+ times

Is there anything else short of formatting the HDD/delete-download-repeat that will possibly let me play on Disc 2?

Ugh. I just want to play... :<

Also, I was on my second play through ME2. The first time through had no problems (and also had no DLC).

Unreadable disc errors usually mean that your DVD drive is failing or getting ready to fail. Do you ever hear a clicking noise coming from your console before the error appears? I sincerely doubt that it has anything to do with your DLC or your HDD. Have you tried installing disc 2 to your HDD?

i had the same problem while retrieving the reaper ffs in my second game (the first one was fine ..)

it always occurred about 1 or 2 minutes into the mission and the disc looked absolutely clean and i had no problems with other games.

after i uninstalled the alternative look package everything went fine (i took jack on the mission WITH the alternative look ;))

in my opinion this problem can be DLC related

Did you ever find a fix to the problem?

Installing: The disc becomes 'unreadable' at around 41%. (Consistantly - tried 4+ times.) I don't hear a clicking noise but I do hear the spin dying down.

The DVD drive failure theory doesn't solve my problem as other games can be played just fine all the way through. (My brother just played Mass Effect in entirety after this problem surfaced.)

I uninstalled all the DLC and even moved all my saved files off the HDD to start with a 'blank slate' but disc 2 is still unreadable. TT___TT

I'm still real interested why all my saved files even the new files that I started last week - yesterday still have a 'save date' of 22/11/2005 in the memory section of the XBOX HDD. Something's afoul. Posted Image

edit: A quick search of the date revealed that 22/11/2005 is XBOX's default date should power fail. The XBOX I use has been plugged into the wall since the new games so the new games should not have this default date.
Another post mentioned that the date should synch to the correct date upon signing into XBOX LIVE.

The unreadable disc error might be some sort of problem of settings between XBOX offline and XBOX LIVE, not specifically DLC-related.

I haven't been on XBOX LIVE lately but I do recall that when the problem first appeared, I was signed on to XBOX LIVE and the problem persisted into XBOX offline.

I've also tried playing without the HDD/memory storage devices and clearing the cache and the problem still persists.

It would seem that I have the same issue. I downloaded the expansion last night then went to bed, then later in the day I played and I got "Unreadable Disc". I tried Disc one and then Disc Two, same thing happened no matter the disc.

So figure it might have to do with the Kaumi (or whatever the name is) might be the issue. I deleted it, and loaded up the game. Now my saved games load without issue.

I can play, but I just spent 560 MSpoints on DLC that makes my game unplayable, what gives Bioware??

I have the same problem. Downloaded the Kasumi DLC and got a "Disk unreadable" error on Horizon, just after I encountered the first enemies.
The interesting thing is, I played from the hard disk and have played through the same section a few weeks before without problems.
I tried to play from the DVD, same problem. Reinstalled on the hard disk, same problem.
Deleted the cache, same problem.

Edit: I isolated the problem. It was Garrus with the alternate Appearance. Restarted the mission without Garrus and got past the problematic part. Works fine now Posted Image
