lmao - most of her ideas in game are bad ideas.  And don't forget it was WILSON who did the actual science work to bring you back.  Miranda only oversaw it.
Also, there is a difference between a second in command and an executive officer in ME.  After all, Pressly is HARDLY Shepards Second, but he is the XO.
In ME 2, Jacob or Garrus are the only party members qualified IMO.  Miranda might be a good XO, but not a good 2iC.

If he's the Executive Officer, then he's the second in command of the ship... that's what an XO is.  His rank would have had to be senior to Alenko and Joker to maintain authority (otherwise one of them would be the XO).

If you're talking about the ground crew, well that would be different.  Kaiden is a marine and Pressly's a fleet officer, so Pressly would be following Kaidens lead.

The one problem i have with this thread is the context of "command".

Are we talking about who we should leave in charge on the Normandy while shepard is out on mission?

Or are we talking about who we would want to take over a ground/combat based mission, if shepard was incapacitated (cos u know, shepard can't die ).



For XO of the Normandy, i would pick Miranda or Tali. Command of a battle ship is different to squad based tactics, requires the abiltiy to think about the "big picture" and all the elements associated with it(like whats been said before)



For ground assaults, Garrus of Jacob would be fine, possibly zaeed for lack of a better choice. They have more combat experience and military training, and can inspire loyalty and courage in those following them, which is quite an advantage when people are getting shot at wanting to flee.

Zaeed would be too busy being a "godamn hero" to really be effective as an officer. if you listen to one of his stories his entire team got killed when they stormed a turian warship.

Garrus is my second in command. I was actually a little annoyed that Miranda was chosen by Bioware to be your XO. *grumbles* This however, in no way indicates that I don't like Miranda (because I do like Miranda). I just don't think she's a very good leader in terms of inspiring loyalty. She's not nice enough.

Yep,  My 2nd in command would be Kaidan/Ash depending on my Shepard, but in ME2 it was Garrus.  I trust him and he has the background for it.

Miranda is my XO, but I put Grunt in charge of the cargo/supplies, no one has the guts to steal anything when he's on duty.
