Miranda has had experience leading science and cover ops teams.  It would be like saying that Thane would be a good second in command.  She doesn't have combat experience, nor military training.  Garrus and Jacob both do, putting them both ahead of Miranda.  I don't put miranda in charge partly because she has no experience leading a military operation (as I consider my operations military) and partly because the crew hate her.  An unpopular officer is the first to get fragged, and you know garrus would do it too.  If the crew don't respect the commanding officer and that commanding officer knows less about leading a team of super soldiers like mine then I say they aren't fit for command.

I was basing my point on your description though, which was a pencil pusher.

time to try alittle logic here

What crew members hate her?

Jack *shrugs* maybe sure but odds also are she hates or doesnt care about 90% of the crew

Samara states she respects her

Grunt im sure doesnt care as long as he gets to fight

Thane Zaeed Mordin i doubt they care they are thier for money or its the right thing to do

Tali Garrus, i doubt hate my mistrust and if the player Shepard were to trust they would to as they would blindly follow Shepard

Jacob of course he trust her worked with her for years

Legion if the math says shes the best choice he follow it

so besides Jack what crew truely hate her?

I was basing my opinion on the crew's reaction to Miranda assuming that she would lead the second fire team.  I made the assumption that Garrus's and Jack's response could be extended to the rest of the crew, but it may not.  It could be argued that it can and it can be argued that it can't and since we don't know the developer's intent neither of us are right and neither of us are wrong.

i would agree that beside Jack and Garrus more of the crew could dislike her if Jacob wasnt the one that speaks up if their both dead and he starts his statement with i trust but other may not or something like that, Bioware seems to have only given Jack a logical reason to dislike Miranda and speak up both Garrus and Jacob seem more of we have to speak up to give the player the ability to choose instead of forcing it to have to be Miranda

You lost me.  I don't think you used a single period in all that.  I have no idea what you just said.

sorry its 5 in the morning i and i should be asleep so im a tad out of it

basically i think i was saying, that i cant believe that crew dislikes her because only Jack Garrus really say anything. And if thier both dead Jacobs the one to speak up and his statement is along the lines of "I trust you but the others may not"

bioware seems to only have given Jack a reason to dislike Miranda and both Garrus and Jacobs statements are more of giving the player choices in picking a different team leader instead of Miranda they really disliking her

if that doesnt clear if up i may need sleep

Miranda and Jack are prone to childish temper tantrums, but at least Jack's not going on about how perfect and important she is.

Miranda is my second in command. She's intelligent, she has skills and the appropriate temper.
No one else could claim to be my second in command.

It sadly is not a possibility at all...

But the one and only second in command would be the Shepard AI for me.

Garrus here, too, though if Wrex was a team member in ME2 it would be him.

Garrus- nobody even comes close.
I need a new XO after the suicide mission anyways because my current died.

Garrus and I think this should have been a choice. I didn't want Miranda as my second in command. Nobody trusts her except Jacob, even when she wants to lead Jack goes against it and Garrus shakes his head in a negative way.

Honestly, Miranda would be my last choice as Second in command.  Every peice of advice she gives you on the suicide mission gets someone killed, and from what we know about the Lazarus Project she has no idea what it means to motivate.

She is the voice of the developers, letting you know what your options are.  And you are lying anyway.  If you take her advice and put her in charge of the fire team nobody dies.  She never says you should not pick Samara for the Biotic, she only lets you know any biotic could do the job in theory.  Giving away exactly what you need to do would make it lame.

But hey most of the time when people slam Miranda they just make up stuff that has nothing to do with what she actually does in the game so this doesn't surprise me.

Obviously Miranda is my 2nd in command.

Miranda is the XO

Groundside its Garrus

Although I often bring both of them to almost every mission because Garrus is awesome with a Sniper and its impossible NOT to take Miranda's godlike squad-buffs when playing on Insanity or NG+

I'm quite shocked at the amount of people who believe Garrus is the best choice as your number 2. Lets look at his record, anyone he ever lead is dead !

Theres one clear choice, Miranda, Miranda a thousand times Miranda. Like her or loathe  her she is the best choice on paper and practically. Below is how I would rate the squad in terms of ability yo lead

1. Miranda - experience of leading teams, cool, calm and collected with an excellent tactical knowledge. Will never let personal feelings hamper a mission

2. Mordin - Will always look to take the correct choice in terms of the mission. Smart and intelligent with Solarian intelligence background

3. Tali - The voice of reason, never headstrong

4. Jacob - Cool under fire, does not allow his emotions control him

5. Samara - A wealth of life experience, and a strict code of honour

6. Garrus - Intelligent, dependable but too headstrong. Shoot first ask questions later

The below aren't capable of leading

Grunt - one week old, barely knows who he is himself

Thane - Has worked alone his whole life

Jack - Stark raving bonkers
