I am currently running DA:O on my Mac and have been considering bootcamp  (although the thought sickens me). Can someone tell me if I play DA:O via boottcamp on my Mac would I be able to access the DLC that is available for DA:O such RTO, etc. and would I have access to the toolset?

Absolutely, there would be no different between bootcamp and using the PC version, that includes patches, DLC & mods, and Awakening.

Make sure to read the first question in my FAQ if you haven't already as you shouldn't need to buy the PC version or any of the DLC (the DLC should be super easy to get as long as you use your account, can download them from within the game, amazing huh? heh)

Thanks for the info. I figured since I would actually be running Win(blows) via Boot camp I should have access to everything but wanted to be certain. I will read all of the FAQs - thanks again : )

Somewhat related follow-up question: anyone tried any of the expansions under Parallels or VMWare?

This is not a good idea. Parallels and VMWare don't talk "directly" to your graphics card, per se, they sort of virtualize it for a virtual machine running on your Mac desktop. They are fine for running Windows office/productivity software without rebooting your Mac. But they are slow for gaming.

BTW, they're better than the old Virtual PC, because at least they don't have to emulate an Intel processor anymore. I tried once running the Windows version of IWD2 (since it never came out for Mac) under Virtual PC. Painful. Cutscenes were incredibly slow, the sound was choppy like hell.

But ... having gone the Bootcamp route recently, I've found it runs very nicely under Bootcamp.

Ditto.

No problems at all running Vista 64bit. Plenty fast on a last gen 2.33GhZ Macbook Pro.
