who attracts you more? applies technical skills ;)

Vanguard
Charge.  Initially, charge will seem like one of the most use powers in the game.
Charge Upgrade: “Heavy charge” or “Area charge”
Also Vanguard have really banging powers: Barrier, Warp, Lift and Throw B)
I think vanguards have got Interesting combination of battle savvy and biotic powers
Soldier
Picking the soldier class in Mass Effect 2 will have you running and gunning around  the galaxy. Because he has nothing. I mean things like Tech or Biotic power.
Soldja has a really big guns Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Heavy Pistol, Sniper Rifle and Heavy Weapon
Also just useless abilities like Adrenaline Rush or Concussive Shot.

Adrenaline rush is not useless, i found it quite useful in the ending boss.

Concussive shot is fine for the crew, but not for Shepard.

Adrenaline Rush is a godly skill, as are both of its evolutions.

+100 percent damage boost during duration, upgradeable to 140 percent with Heightened, with increased slowdown.

Or, decreased 50 percent health damage taken during the duration of the adrenaline rush for Hardened lets you lean out and dish more damage.

Soldiers get the Revenant too. The Widow and the Claymore are wasted on a Soldier compared to the Revenant (you can get in more boosted shots with the DLC shotgun and the Viper sniper rifle during Adrenaline Rush)

Concussive shot also strips away biotic barriers pretty quickly. I use it mostly to push explosive canisters or strike somebody that a squadmate has pulled.

Other then that, I put Warp ammo on my Soldier as his extra power and use it exclusively along with the disruptor. I can chew through any form of protection with minimal effort, and only having to switch between 2 ammo powers for complete coverage simplies things greatly.

Adrenaline Rush is essential on harder difficulty levels. Without it you get torn up and can't aim the powerful Revanant LMG (which is only available for the soldier).

Barrier, pull?, and throw are useless for a Vanguard.

Vanguards don't get throw. Pull and Throw are godly powers at 3s recharge ...

However, requiring shockwave to get pull hurts. A lot.

Adrenaline Rush is an "I win" button. Seriously.

Anyone who thinks Adrenaline rush is useless has never ripped threw 2 layers of shields in a matter of moments.

The soldier is so overpowered adrenaline rush it doesn't need casting powers. Vanguard is only fun on higher difficulties when you know the maps and situations really well.

I love the Soldier class. And for those insisting on the awesomeness of the Vanguard charge ability...I'll grant you that, but keep in mind a Soldier runs pretty fast with adrenaline rush and is capable of throwing in a few punches and shotgun blasts while using it.

Vanguard. Fight with honour. Charge with honour. Die with honour.

But seriously, not to knock the Soldier class, it's always been on my 'low tier' of classes to choose from, because anyone who knocks the Vanguard has obviously not slammed into an unarmoured enemy, sending them flying, blasting them with a shotgun shells and elbowing their faces off, blowing his pals away and walking out with but less than a centimeter of health remaining, skull abuzz with an actual adrenaline rush and a grin on your face.

I just never liked the Soldier much, because as cool as Adrenaline Rush was, I disliked the fact that I ended up playing the game much more like a shooter than I was an RPG. I was never pinned down in cover on Insanity, quickly evaluating my targets, the best enemy to charge, the best location to clear as many enemies as fast as possible without being overwhelmed. I was never conducting ACTUAL guerrilla warfare against my enemies as an Infiltrator, quickly Cloaking, running to a better location and picking off another enemy, before Cloaking once again (one of the best experiences I had in the game was the fight before the Praetorian on Horizon on Insanity. My squadmates were dead, the Scions were on my ass and Husks were rooting me out, an experience where I constantly found myself on the move, on a head rush, a little high from fear and adrenaline, brought on by immense risk taking, strategy and luck. A similar experience for the fight immediately after). I never had the satisfaction of clearing a room in naught but a minute without firing a bullet as an Adept and an Engineer. Soldiers just made me feel like I was playing Gears of War with a really cool ability accessed by Y.

Yes.

If not for the Revenant the soldier would be pointless. Even then it is pretty boring.

Being able to control your squadmates' power usage helps the game feel less like a shooter to me. Honestly though, ME1 did a better job at giving the soldier class an rpg twist yet I still find it very enjoyable in ME2. That, and I sometimes feel a little passive during gameplay when I'm not using all sorts of weapons aggressively; it always felt more appropriate to have my squad mates use their Force-like powers.

I personally don't find the Soldier boring at all. It's just how you play it that makes it boring. If you're just going to stay behind cover and shoot, then yes it's going to get dull. So is any class, including the Vanguard. However if you want to play it aggressively, then the soldier is as fun as any other class. Adrenaline rush lets you storm a position, gain new positions or retreat when the situation gets tough as good as any cloak. The viper in the hands of a solider is a pure killing machine, and everyone knows how powerful the reverant is.

As for casting. I got squadmates for casting. Thing I like about the soldier, infiltrator and engineer is that they have no supernatural powers. Just human skill, weapons and ingenuity to crush the biggest threat to the galaxy.

Good post. I much prefer my Shepard to not have biotic powers both for roleplay and gameplay purposes, as strange as that may sound to others. It's nice to have a hero that has tremendous skill in leading others and getting the most out of their potential.

A fully upgraded charge for the Vanguard is priceless! Fly across the room like a greased up thunder bolt and finish up the last foe with a shotgun round in the gut...

Having Garrus, Zaeed and Soldier Shep in the same party turns combat into ping pong.  Enemies flying everywhere.  Take Slam as a bonus power, and it just gets mean.
