I just switched over to Win7. After some problems, I managed to get Mass Effect reinstalled and to open. Problem is that I can't play the game until I reinstall the add-ons. Well I got Pinnacle Station, no problem, even if that was a waste of $5. Problem is with Bring Down the Sky now. I downloaded the installer, registered my CD key and got the same one for BDtS the first time. I put it in when propted, but it told me that it was the wrong CD key and cancelled the installation. Any idea what the problem could be?

Ah, bugger. I was hoping there was another way that didn't involve messing with the registry keys.

I've seen some people have luck with just the task-killing trick, so you could try skipping zesban's steps 3-10 (the registry editing stuff) to start with.
His full instructions seem to have a 100% success rate from those few who have posted thus far, though, so if it doesn't work skipping the registry editing I imagine that is indeed what you need to do.

Also there is a link to an application I wrote that will manage the registry key stuff for you. You just need to type in your Mass Effect and Bring Down the Sky keys and follow the steps in it.

Edit: Nevermind, dumb question.

Well, I followed the instruction list you wrote up for doing it manually and it worked perfectly. Thanks.

So, what if you had done this process in the past, but had to reformat recently thinking the cd key would still be stored on the website, and come to find out that it no longer exists? Will EA Support issue another key, or will they be able to call up my original key?

Karnovian -
I pulled up your account and see you were issued a Bringing Down the Sky code on 5/18/11.
Please check your private message inbox for further information.

I had the same issue, I tried to contact Live Chat support on EA, but the connection kept getting lost and I was booted. I felt like I was talking to a bot anyway. Then I got an email later saying that because I didnt respond in 120 seconds (which was total crap) I was "absent".
Oddly Pinnacle station seems to not even download at all for me. Only option it gives me is to "uninstall". I cant register or do anything to verify what the bloody hell is going on. Its weird ME2 and dragon age have a whole list of DLC that is somewhat easier to use, but ME1 has two little bits and its like pulling teeth getting them to work.

I also cannot find my registration for ME1 and BDtS on the website, as the website has been deleted/changed. I also cannot install BDtS as it keeps repeating after checking the license "installation failed" even though I have written down the original BDtS key for my ME1 and I have checked several times that the key is the correct one for my version of ME1.
Could someone from Bioware please help?
best regards

Almost no one from Bioware has ever read this forum. They aren't supposed to do so (read the forum description. It's just your peers here). You'll have to either use EA's official help, or rely on the few gamers still playing the game who drop in here from time to time (I don't know an answer to offer), although it seems to me that at some point, a generic, one number fits all, code may have been generated to cover the situation.

The problem is I cannot log into my EA account, as it does not accept my password, even though it is the correct one. And I also cannot change the password, because if I click on "forgot my password" the automatic email sent does not reach my mailbox...

You'll have to use the Landline, then. There is some way to reach them by phone; look on the last page of the game manual.
Never use anything other than the 36 plain alphanumeric letters and numbers in your password.

If only. I was simply told, 'sorry we're aware of this and working to resolve it.' no offer of a new key

Can someone please tell me where to find this cd key for BDtS - a link perhaps?

AFAIK, those had seemed to be strictly limited for awhile, and some of the EA Support wonks will be cooperative and offer one, while others will pretend that there are none to be had, leaving some in the middle just saying to be patient.
I'm editing this to add that I seem to recall having read about a universal code anyone can use now that will work, but it's still a case of blind man's buff finding an "Advisor" (new name, same function) that knows the number.
